Checking ECU on 5th Gen

Ok guys, I own a 4th Gen so please do not flame me on this. My mother's 2000 GXE Maxipad has a CEL and naturally, I take off the cover to the ECU and lo-behold, there is no "screw" on the ECU to pull the codes. I checked in her FSM and there was nothing there about it. How do you check the codes? I searched, not very well, but I searched and couldn't find the answer. Thanks guys.

That you mean by an Auto tap? It is a standard OBD-2 connection that alot of cars have.

Ramius83, if I ever get my OBD software to work, I could probably check things out for you if the car hasn't been taken to the dealership yet. I had the stuff at the Stone Mountain meet but I don't think your mother was there.

It is the www.obd-2.com software. Actually, after paying you get just the cable and a registration code and you download the software from the website.

AutoTap I don't know how to explain it very well, but my cousin has one and it allows him to see what it's going on in the car. I know he can see how many degress of KR (knocking)his car is running and I think how much air and fuel mixture is getting and stuff like that, as an example. I will ask him about it and will get back to you on that as he can explain it a lot better than i can. It'snot jsut a scan tool it's a little more than that.
