Bose Sub Question

How do you know that the subwoofer that is part of the Bose system is working ? The thing is shaped like a speaker from the outside, is it supposed to emit any sound or is it just to enhance the bass ? When I turn the up volume, I can see the sub vibrate, but no sound is coming out of it ? Is that normal ?

Excuse my ignorance

Have you taken the cover off and put your ear up to it?

Open the trunk and feel the speaker from underneath.

crank the volume up to 25 and the bass up to +5 and check if your rear view mirror is rattling

Replacement speaker cost

Man, I went to Cartoys this weekend to price new speakers to replace the stock Bose crap. So here is what I priced out:

Infiniti Reference components for the front
Infiniti Reference 5.25 for the doors
Infiniti Reference 12' enclosed sub in the trunk
2 amps

So I am figuring that since I am keeping the stock head unit that it would be under $1000. Nope.....$2500 installed. He says to me, "So, you want to install it today?"

Damn I felt violated

Re: Replacement speaker cost

If they're a reputable company they should be willing to competitively price their equip/labor. If you are cool with making a long distance phone call, try Myer-Emco (a mid-Atlantic company) at (301) 208-2100. If this Cartoys is familiar with other well-known stereo places, they will know of Myer-Emco. And if you don't trust me, pick up almost any HIFI stereo magazine (Home Theatre, ect), someone from the ME team will be quoted.
