go beat! v6 mustang?? :(

hello all! i dont know what happend i dont think it was a v6, but it didn't have the GT embles or it didnt have the two openings for the two mufflers, and it was a newer model one,(but the rims where the 16" not the GT's 17) but this car did have dual exhaust and it sounded pretty bad, anyways he beat me off the line by half-car length then at 85 he had 1 1/2- 2 car lengths on me then we stoped... can anyone tell me what the problem was?? my car is an auto so it cant be from bad driving!! please help!

Re: go beat! v6 mustang?? :(

A stock V-6 Mustang (manual)can reach 60 mph in the low 7's, and with an auto Maxima in the high 6's, it's not that far behind to begin with. V-6 Mustangs can be fairly easily modified to produce some generous output, and if it's a manual with a good driver in a modded car, you stand a fair chance at losing.

A 2k1 Auto Max will NOT reach 0-60 in the high 6's.

The Mustang was just plain faster and I do believe it to be a V-6. As I always say I choose my races VERY carefully with the Maxima, we are not that fast (auto). If you guys ran a high speed race I would put $$ on the maxima in a minute!!! Stop light to stop light???? your done!

EDIT: Now the 2k2 and up is a different story!

Hehe... buy a 2k2 Max, and even the Auto GT will be checking out your "stock Altezzas" Trust me!... they all seem to love mine!

With the current 5sp V6 Rustang, you'll get beat most times. Especially given that you have an auto Y2K-2K1 Max. (The new V6 Rustang (200hp) is nothing like the older 94 Rustang V6 (160hp).) If it were a GT, it would have more than 1-1 1/2 car lengths on you.

i beat a 2001 V6 5 speed mustang a while ago in my 95 auto with y pipe and exhaust....but with exhaust and intake, plus a better driver, its very possible for him to have beaten you.

not shifting the 2k-2k1 loses time too, and not brake torquing u cant launch as well either. take a 2k-2k1 to the track and just wait for the green and just hammer the gas and let it shift by itself and ur looking at a 16s. proper brake torque, and shifting at redline, and teh auto can pull a low-mid15s. And i dont mean to start anythign but an auto 2k-2k1 will do 0-60 under 7 seconds if driven properly. high 14s on a typical car usually means a 0-60 of low6s, low-mid15s is typically high6s for 0-60. 2k-2k1 5spds do high 14s and if u do a little bit of math with the numbers u can get a somewhat accurate 0-60, and they are running about 6.2 0-60s, the integra type R, runs similar times to a stock 2k-2k1 5spd and gets similar 0-60. i myself have only done GTECH runs for 0-60, i know its not accurate, but my friend with a civic si, has enough mods to run high 14s, and he clocks his 0-60 around 6.2 on it and ive gotten consistent 6.6-6.8.

back to the topic, if it was a 5spd v6 stang, and u havent pushed the car, it will most definitely beat u with a decent driver. if it was auto u should have taken it, unless again not pushing the maxima could result in your loss. just be careful, those 3.8L engines, Ford OR GM, make more torque than we do at a lower rpm, and especially if u have an auto maxima, it will come down to how hard u push ur car. GM 3.8L cars, grand prix gt, my friend had one, and every race he would take me by 1-1.5 cars but by 70ish i would pass him.
