Question on 2k2 hid's...
Well...I bought these HID's last year fron Dave B and am planning to install them tomorrow morning...I have a 2001 Max Se and I am in Canada...for those that installed the HID's did your car not come with daytime running lamps? I thought all cars com with them...kinda like a safety feature? And on the light stalk inside the car...if you turn it all the way, will that activate your HID's OR are they on as soon as the car is on? I'm kinda confused...I jsut thought u would have to turn the HID's on separately..kinda like the Acura TL's...HElp me please! Oh and i am using BigDogJonx's write up...

whoa...
ok.. you need to verify this, but I think your DRLs are the high beams running at 1/2 voltage. If you put 1/2 voltage on the HIDs, you'll cook the ballasts (starve them for voltage and the amperage will rise, not good). Now you should be able to wire the old Highbeam lights directly to the new Highbeam lights. You shouldnt have a problem that I can see, but you are on some uncharted territory. Just remember to use a multitester/voltmeter, you'll need to double check the write up info as you do yours.

I do not have DRLs..
I've seen the schematic in the FSM, it shows the wiring for Canadian models as well as US models.
Only the ground is shared, not voltage, between your high and low beams. I'm thinking you'll just wire them just like the rest of us, as the new highbeams will work as your old one did. But I wouldnt risk $1000 lights without testing that first with a meter. Again, if its just highbeams, then you can pretty much do what the rest of us have done.

Maybe you can just get away with driving with the running lights on. DRLs are the law in Canada..correct?

tim, where can i find this FSM diagram? You guys have no idea how long it took me to finally understand the writeup on Bigdog's swap. My lights are sitting here with all the wires tagged to where and what they gotta hook up to...LOL! This meter that u are talking about, how the heck do you use it? GOD I must be dumb, eh?

ooops
sorry I missed your question yesterday.
Voltage tester? Radio Shack? $10? actually, I would spring a few more dollars for a digital multitestor. That way you can test a wider range of circuits. The needle type actually acts as a load on the circuit, so if you test some circuits by error, like with the ECU, you could actually cause a problem. I digital multitestor will often save you from yourself
I sprung for a Fluke. was not cheap, but will last you most of *your* lifetime.
