anyone Vs. 1998 Volvo X-Country AWD Turbo Wagon?

My stepbro bought a Volvo Wagon and I am afraid he will smoke my ***. That car has 4wd and a factory turbo. According to edmunds.com, 2.4 5cyl engine produces peak 195 hp and 199ft'lb torque, 0-60 8.1sec...but what if he's gonna get a chip?

I think you should be able to take him. It looks like that he only has the small turbo. If he had the 2.3 HPT turbo, that would be a fun race. Off the line, the car is slow but once the turbo kicks in, hold on. It should be a good race but I honestly think you'll take him. Plus those wagons pack some weight as well since its AWD.

But no matter who wins, your car looks better. The X-Country is booty. I like the Audi Allroad much better for that category.

The XC volvo only has the low compression turbo charger. IPD makes a chip for it but it only boosts the power to about 230. With just a chip you will be able to smoke him.

BTW he should have bought the T5 wagon.

he sold his '01 BMW 325 because of the wifey, and got a used wagon, wanted a european car. That Volvo he got with 70K mi he got @ Manheim Dealer Auto Auction in PA for just 14 grand. A more upscale wagon you're talking about with 60K mi was sold for 17 g's. Do you know the place that sells those chips?

I was smokin him in his 325 and will continue to do, makes my heart smile

www.ipdusa.com sells a lot of volvo specific parts including chips. There is another company that offers a silamler chip for far less money, however I forgot the name of it. Try searching the web

I hope he's not looking for serious mods for his Volvo. There's a chick out there with a C70 turbo. She put an incredible $175,000 into her car and is only doing 12 second 1/4s. With that amount of money she could ALMOST get my dream car, the Porsche GT2.

I'm into Volvos, and I gotta say this, the XC V70 wagon wont put up much of a fight against you in your Maxima in my opinion. Chipped...I wouldn't bet on it either, but anything can happen.
It would be a different story, however if it was a V70 R AWD wagon, that babys got around 250bhp and has enuf storage space to do whatever you want back there.

Look at some of these chips and their numbers here...The XC V70 should be the same as the "V70 AWD" listed there.

thanks for that URL. Price-wise, do chips for Volvos cost more than for VW? Usually they are around $350.
