Paint chips

just thought i would ask. I have a butt load of little "nicks" out of my hood from little rocks and whatnot. ive never had a problem with another car getting paint damage so quickly. is this common for the maxima?

It's because of the butter that Nissan uses in their paint.

There are at least 2 big threads and several smaller ones on this subject on this board each with several hundred messages dating back more than a year. This is old news and unfortunately is a fact of ownership for the 5th generation Max (and we hear a few Sentras as well).

Good luck, maybe you will have better results with your dealer than most of us have had with ours. In the meantime, just drive between every bit of sand and road pebbles that you see.

Has anyone tried the paint markers that Courtesy Nissan sells on their website? I have a few nicks on my hood i'd like to get rid of if possible.

I have used the paint stick/pen on my black Max. It works pretty well. One end of the pen is color and the other end is clear coat. It takes some getting used to. The clear coat tends to come out too much and blobs. I use a paper towel to dab the tip of the pen first and then apply the clear coat very carefully. The color part seems to go on pretty well. Care and patience. Better than touch-up paint with brush IMO. Just my experience ...

how do you correct damage on the front bumper? I saw like bits of plastic material are taken out...can't correct that with a touch-up.

Turtle wax comes in colors. Supposedly you could use it and match the color of your car. It will fill in the chips. I have not tried it so I cannot say if it works but the principle is sound.

I think I have some garden tools that, um, don't hang very securely on my garage wall. I really don't want them to fall, but, ahh, when I'm I going to find the time to move them?

Re: Paint chips

jconway, you need to slow down when you're behind other vehicles (especially SUVs, trucks, etc.)...or get yourself a bra.

I tried the Turtle Wax colour match crap on my Sterling Mist 2k and all I can say is if it sounds too good to be true...
This stuff is garbage, doesn't work worth a damn
