Nitrous and Transmission

I have a question for anyone that knows about nitrous for a 2002. I have a 2k2 SE 6 speed, and I am planning to put nitrous into it. I plan on going for a 100 shot, and was curious what else I need to install to make sure that I do not mess my car up. I am already planning to install a new fuel pump, and all the proper gagues. Do I need to do any transmission mods to ensure I can run without problems. any advise or help is greatly apprecited.

BTW I tried to do a search for this info and got nowhere..so don't flame me

Not having any experience in this I'm probably not in a position to talk. But (when did that ever stop someone) it seems to me that the automatic modifications were to handle the increased torque. It would seem logical to expect the same issue for for MT's. To answer this question you would need to know what torque rating the MT is rated with compared to the max TQ developed by your 100 shot. My understanding is that MT's can handle increased torque because they don't have belts and valves (which are what normally fail). Hope this helps.

I forgot the name, starts with an "s". He already put a 125shot of Nitrous in his 2k2. Might wanna search for it.

Think he is talking about SR40DEN. He has a 125 shot running on his 5th gen 2002.

Typically, you will hear people talk about ensuring you use a WOT sensor to only spray while under full throttle. Additionally, you should use a RPM window switch (mallory makes a nice one for 100 bucks) to apply the juice only between specified RPMs. The last thing you would want to do is miss a gear or spray at the wrong time and BOOM! Cheap insurance.

I installed 80 shot NOS in my SE-R back in the day and this is what I did.

1. I had a WOT switch to, of course, make sure it only sprays when WOT.

2. I had a MSD Window switch to say when to turn on and off the NOS at a desired RPM. I had it on at 3,000 and off at 7,200.

3. I had a AFR meter to tell me how the AFR was to make sure I wasn't running lean.

4. Other things to consider: exhaust temp gauge, fuel pressure, upgraded fuel pump, etc.

Basically, you don't want to run lean.

Hope my 2 cents helps!
