Bets on who will be the first to trade up...

Despite all the the BS about how ugly the '04 Max is, we all know somebody is going to be trading up in another six months.

My $20 goes on Russ trading in his CL.

I hate to say it, but I will put money on myself to be the first to get a 2005. I already have 17000 miles on my 2003. I won't buy the 2004 though...I'll let somebody else work all the bugs out.

I assume, by your handle, that you were previously the owner of an AE?

Yep...I bought an AE in March of 2001...put 50K+ on it by July of this year so I traded for a '03 TE.

Mind you...I said a 2005...there is no way I'll get an '04 yet. There will be too many first model year bugs and my TE will only be up to 25-30K when it comes out

Please the 2004 is already growing on me! I have even started looking at wheels for the car and I would definately get the Majestic blue.

My 2002 Majestic Blue has 22,000K miles on it and this is the longest I have ever owned a car. I love my Maxima, but I also enjoy taking a stock car and turning it into a bling bling stunning machine! But like 2K1 A.E I don't want to buy a 2004 or 2005 I rather wait for the Mid-model refreshing and AWD etc...

Nissan is too smart to do something as dumb as that. They wouldnt make a car as popular as the Maxima only last 2 years. Even though we may not like the looks, other people do. Look how much the new accord is selling. THIS CAR WILL SELL

My guess on the next gen will be the 2k8 model year.
I bought a new 2k2 maxima knowing another one was going to come out. I liked how it looked and didn't really care about the future. The salesguy told me since the Altima is bigger right now, they will come out with a bigger Maxima. He was right and I am happy with my purchase.

If I wanted one, I'd wait until the '05 model yr since anything new or redesigned in its 1st yr is bound to have bugs

and Russ... 3 maximas? what did you do to all of them?

I have a family member that is an automotive engineer he notes some things to keep in mind:

1. Avoid buying a new car in its First Year of production.

2. if you do...NEVER buy within the first 2500 produced.

too many bugs.

btw. He works for ACURA and gets 2 new cars every 2 years(he has a TL typeS and an MDX)

God I hope they don't wait until 2k8 to redesign, they need to just start over imo, base it off the skyline gtr, It would be sweet if they eventually made it available in couple.. kinda like the Acura legend, available in 2 and 4 door ( back when they still made them )

Yup. That would bring in more buyers and take sales away from the Accord Coupe.

From a business standpoint, they should make a 2 door Altima. That would defenitely sell more because it has a more sporty/younger image.
