The only thing I like about it is the dual exhaust pipes on each side.

That grill is FUGLY!!!!

And what's w/ the foglights? Looks like they'll point at the curb!

Sure looks like it put on some pounds - it now has that fatty lookin **** like the new Accord. Such a shame...

And us 5th genners thought we got our car confused w/ an altima ? ? It pretty much looks just like an altima now.

The dual exhaust look nice but the front of the car is really fugly , the grill & valence look like $hit. I'm just wondering were Nissan is going with such a taste less design, the Nippon designer may need to recycle soon, I just cant feel that Maxima, I guess Nissan is seeking for older clients.

P.S: It's one more reason to keep my max and mods the hell out of it.

Cheers

Those aren't foglights. The '04 Maxima now has cornering lights. When you hit the blinker, the corresponding light turns on, to give a slightly better view of what you are turning into. Some cars/SUVs already have this feature.

Except for the front grille, the car is really starting to grow on me. It looks like Nissan didn't make the new Maxima a full-size car afterall, so it's worth consideration again. I'm liking it.

Peace.

Why, oh why are so many cars running with those god-forsaken Focus-like headlights that take up the whole corner of the car and run up the hood/fender?

This thing looks like a very bad fusion of a Focus, Altima and Passat.

Uhhh...my 95 had that feature....not too cool. I mean it was cool for 95 I guess...but didn't do much.

Cornering lights aren't anything new - my '89 T-bird and my dad's '89 Continental had it. Heck - even my grandma's 1980 Cadillac had it.

You have to admit that they LOOK like foglights though. The ones that were on the other Maximas blended into the look of the car. These look like crap-ola.

By the looks of things it seems like the new Maxima will move away from sporty and get closer to cushy - as in Camry & Accord. Sure doesn't look very sporty...

Nissan say it ain't so!!

To tell you the truth, if money was no factor--I would trade my 2k2 for a 2k4 right now. The thing is hot except the grille but that can be changed. Remember all the 4th genners saying "Look what Nissan did to our maxima, they made the 5th gen ugly, i am keeping the 4th gen"
look at all the 5th genners now...

If the org is still around in 5 years, the 6th genners are going to criticize the 7th gen.

Change is bad, right? No.

(by the way, i dont remember this happening because I just joined in June but I know it had to have happened)

I don't know. At first glance this car just doesn't look like it has a sporty edge to it like the other gen's anymore. I just don't see this car as a sport sedan anymore.

Whos idea was that silver plate in the front grill? There's nothing sporty about this maxima and I think that was the plan. Move up the max to a more mature segment to compete for their pockets against camrys and accords and give us guys the sportier, more aggresive altima. I mean lets look at the numbers.

I didnt get model specifics as that would require more work though I do have access to that information, its public anyway. Nissan, without questions, wants to sell more cars. Honestly, they are going after the mature crowd. Don't you just not like to see older folks w/Florida plates doing 60mph in their 5th gen GLE on the highways? I know I dont. Well, some of these folks want to identify with maximas as well and they are not going to do that w/the car is identified w/younger, stillened up maxima drivers doing 100mph on the regular.

oooo, the max got a silver party 'toof up in the grill... nice.. Personally, I'd have gone for a playboy bunny or a dollar symbol :/

ok, thread lives alittle while here, get it out of everone's system.. then it magically goes into the 6th forum.

The front is the fugliest part of the vehicle, the rest isn't really fugly, it's just more Altima-ish looking than anything. Also let's not forget the Altima borrowed the most important thing from the Max to make it what it is>the engine. <So does this make the Altima the MaximaAlt?

Anyway maybe we should wait until someone actually buys one and we see it in person, better yet wait til someone buys one and removes that big stupid badge on the front.

Why doesn't Nissan just make a signature grill like BMW or Mercedes, this way whenever someone see one from the front or in their rearview mirror, they automatically recognize it as a Nissan?

Do you guys remembered when the Infiniti Q45 was first introduced. The grilless nose and that UGLY badge didn't do too well w/the sales compared to Lexus conservative approach. I just hope that the new Maxima will not suffer from the same design mistakes!

Perhaps a good aftermarket grill will solve the front end issue...

You're right, I think the dollar symbol would look better than the stupid silver tooth sitting there.

Sometimes the server bogs up and your post doesn't go through and you end up making a double post. Anyone else had this problem?

See I didn't think the Q45 was that bad when it came out. I liked the fact that it had hardly any chrome and no wood on the dash. The original Q45 is 50 times better looking than the new Maxima - sorry guys.

In the words of the horse character in Ren & Stimpy - "No sir, I don't like it."

Now if maybe they offered the SE version with a monochromatic effect (body colored grille and accents), put on some 18" rims, and had a mildly tuned engine w/ a supercharger say in the neighborhood of 300hp I could PROBABLY get over it's Altima-like shape.

I'd like to stick w/ Nissan but I have a feeling when my lease is up in 2006 I might have to step it up to an Infiniti. Oh Nissan, if you're listening: Don't make the I35 look ANYTHING like the Maxima...PLEEEASE!!

The manufactures usually build their lower-priced models to emulate their top of the line model. Nissan decided to build their next 'flagship' Maxima to emulate the lower priced Altima. That chrome piece in the middle of grill will woo many Buick and Toyota Avalon buyers.

this is the new signature grill i believe. sure, it's ugly but that's it. The quest has it and I am sure more Nissans will soon have it.
