'04 Maxima Ride and Drive

I work at a Nissan dealer and we went to a '04 Maxima 'Ride and Drive' training program put on by Nissan. Let me start by saying I was disappointed in the 6th gen, BEFORE yesterday.

After driving it(Auto SE model on the track), and learning the features, I am now thinking about trading in my 2k2 6spd! It was amazing how it performed!

We drove the Acura 3.2TL and Toyota Avalon for comparison. The performance and features of the Maxima blew them away!

It even looks much better in person than the pictures portray it. Many dealers should have this weekend, and the advertising campaign kicks off April 1. They quoted prices from $28-$38k.

If you get the chance, drive one before making an opinion!

That would be a big loss of $$$

I saw one in person and read the specs, independent suspension is what makes it feel a bit better than the 5th gen's, Im going to test drive one today and see.

The only thing I know about customers reactions here in FL are , 15 have been ordered, and 10 of which were former Altima 3.5 owners, and a few maximas and fords make up the latter.

It did handle better, less torque steer, and the acceleration seemed strong. Didn't get to drive more than a quick course, no 1/4 mile.

First of all, I don't work for Nissan Corp., I work for a Nissan dealer.

Second of all, I was not trying to lever sales through this forum. I was simply trying to share my experiences since I had an early opportunity to test this vehicle.

There's my 'pitch'!

I think they were a little of on the estimated prices...$26K is the base and a fully loaded SL looks like @ $35K.

It does seem overpriced, but I am fairly certain most won't be paying sticker. I got about $4k off my '03 in July. Dealers might not give those discounts right off the bat on an '04, but just wait until December and they will go cheap.
