Navi Question

Simple Question that I couldn't find the answer to.

Where is the DVD for the Navigation system? I couldn't find it in the trunk or the glove compartment. That leaves under the seat or in the "CD storage" compartment thing in the main console or in the armrest. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks.

It's behind the little flip up storage compartment door under the radio. Refer to the manual and you'll see a picture of it.

This assumes I have a manual to look at. I haven't bought the car yet. I was just curious as I thought they were usually in the trunk (like the TL).

Incorrect DVD-ROM version

Anyone get an "Incorrect DVD ROM loaded" message?
I got that a couple of times tonight. I cleaned the DVD and seems fine for now. Had a fingerprint on it.

I've never gotten that message and I've used it quite a bit. Myrddin, you can download the manual from the Nissan website.

GPS help desk

I left them voice mail last night...they called back today....said dirt on the DVD (in my case a fingerprint) could cause the error. Also said make sure the DVD says Version #6.1.

I did not check yet, but eversince I cleaned the DVD fingerprint...OK!

Has anyone popped the DVD into their computer DVD-Rom drive? Just wondering what is on it.

In the Maxima the navigation system is CD based, not DVD based. There are a total of 9 different CDs to cover the US. The one for your local area comes new with the car with additional CDs at $120 a pop.

With the nav system there's no room left for the in dash CD changer so what goes in the trunk is the 6 CD changer for your audio disks.

To access the navigation CD push the small white button on the top left hand side of the display. The display will pivot out. The CD slot is behind there with an eject button beside it.

By the way you can play music CDs on this in dash unit but then of course, the navigation system doesn't work.

No, the Maxima Nav system is DVD based. It covers the entire country. You choose the state you're in and get your directions. I don't even beleive they make CD based systems for new cars anymore.
