Being in Canada, I use the metric system. I have noticed something odd in my readout. If the temperature outside is 70 F it will read 21 C (about right). If I set my climate control temperature controls to 21 C and then switch to F the reading is 65 F (for the climate control).
So, if I set my car to cool to 21 C, is it going to try to cool my car down to 21 C, or 65 F (which is actually closer 18 C).

That is quite odd, I will check it out in my car today. I wonder what 108F translates to in C, cause it is hot outside...

Are the ambient readings on the 04's reading accurate, I know sometimes mine on the 03 reads a litle high sometimes?

 

Pretty accurate here. Although yesterday it said it was 113F when it was really 111F

 

I called my tech and he said that is most likely coming from heat from the road and engine etc. It only happens when its hot and it was hot here today in Dallas, thanks gmc.

 

I guess you'd get a better reading if the car is moving at a pretty good speed so the effect of the heat coming from the engine is not as big. Anybody know where on the car the thermometer is actually situated?

 

I am not sure, but when I take the car to the touchless car wash, it comes out reading 70F when it is 95F outside.

 

I find the ambient temperature reading to be off by 2 or 3 degrees during the daytime. I had the same thing with my last car (Volvo) - during the day (sunny) it was off by 2 degrees and at night it was accurate. My guess is the heat from the pavement causes problems.
