2004 Maxima Windshield problems

Has anyone had any problems with the windshield on their 2004 Maxima? Mine cracked without being hit by any foreign objects.

They (dealer) are repairing with no problem, but it’s odd to see a windshield crack while you are driving.

Great car, though. Runs great, handles good and it’s comfortable.

Did the glass just crack, or did something hit the window. Mine cracked from the passenger side edge out to the middle of the window. It actually cracked in 2 spots. A second cracked formed off of the first.

I think a rock hit it and I was unaware. Next thing I know the crack is 22" long.

I have to assume that this is the problem in both cases, or there was a small crack under the trim on the side before you got it and it just extended out.

is this a defect in the car, or is it just coincidental?

The quality of windshield glass in my 2k3 SE is the worst I have ever seen in any car I have owned. It is cheap, thin glass that pits and cracks very easily. There appears no way to avoid the pitting other than not driving the car. Don't know if was carried over to 2k4 but I doubt Nissan became enlightened and decided it would be a good thing to spend more $$ on a higher quality windshield. Pretty sad, IMO.

I have a nick (no pun intended) in my windsheild, but that is pretty common out here. I had to have my Excursion windshield replaces every couple of months.
