Sales of the new maxima

Sales of the new maxima
Does anyone have the stats on how many new maxima's are leaving the showrooms? I've only seen one 6th gen on the road since they came out...it's still early for sure, but I'm a little worried of the future of the car.

The figures include 03 and 04, you want be able to officially tell until July when just about all of the 03's will be off of the lots(most are now). My dealer/salesman here In Lewisville has had the same 7 04's on his lot for near 2.5 months now, maybe its the colors he said peole will look but want purchase and he's a great salesman.

My dealer can't keep them in!!!
A new blue one came in today....
I was there because my wife blew out a tire Friday during the rain storm! They had to order the tire because it was a new size they said.
After I paid around $130 for the tire and mounting, the assistant manager asks me if I had the "R.O.A.D. InTire Repair or Replacement" guarantee?
Never knew there was such a thing. You would think that the salesperson would have told me about it so I could have at least had the option of purchasing it!
By the way, the guarantee is around $150.
Do any of you think it's worth it?

Sales in the Atlanta area are fairly good. I believe we have thirteen Nissan dealers in the metro area, and mine (four miles away) is one of the smaller ones. He usually has between five and ten '04s at any given time, and seems to average selling at least two or three a week.
The inventory at some of the larger dealers in this area has reached as high as the forties at times, but soon falls back to around thirty. Someone is buying.
I check the '04 Maxima inventory of all dealers within a hundred miles of Atlanta each night, and notice the VIN #s are steadily getting higher.
One more will leave the lot after I am convinced the shimmy and gas gauge problems are solved.

Yeah, you won't be able to tell till next year. For instance, when you looked at Acura sales 2 years ago, the Integra was called the RSX so you could tell the difference. If the new car was still the Integra, we would not be able to tell.

they stopped production of the o3 about 7 months ago...if most dealers are like our dealership they only had a couple of 03s left last month....so my guess would be mostly 04 numbers in that figure....but i could be wrong

the dealers around goldsboro where i live dont have any 2004 maximas left. most dealers only have 5 max. the ones in raliegh which is 50 miles have i think 8. the whole region had about 7-8 for the small markets and 20 or so in the bigger cities. they have been cleaned out.

The TSX is a cheap econobox... of course it will sell more. Not even in the same class IMO...
The dealers around here don't even have new 2003's in stock, and they can barely keep '04's on the lot... all is well and good here!

The TSX is about the same size as the 3-series. Honda introduced this vehicle to compete with the 3-series and A4.
The TSX is much smaller than the 2004 Nissan Maxima. Do you really think they are the same size

I think I would pay the extra $500 for the Max... the name acura isn't worth anything to me.

With that said...the 2004 Maxima kicks the TSX's a$$ and My 2004 Maxima SE is definitly faster than the 330i I got rid of through swaplease.com.
I feel bad for the poor bastard that ended up with my 2001 330i. I beat the $hit out of that car every day! It was on its 3rd set of tires at 28K miles when I turned it over

Since I posted above (June 25th) that '04 Maxima sales were brisk in the Atlanta area, something has happened. I'm not sure what.
Most of the 13 Atlanta area dealers have clearly less cars on hand than they had a month ago. My dealer was keeping around eight to ten through May and June, but has had only two or three for two weeks now. Other Atlanta area dealers (I check their inventory regularly) also have less.
I do know my dealer was selling several cars a week, and replacement cars were coming in. But he has gotten only a car or two a week for several weeks, and some of those have stickers showing he got them from other local dealers.
I don't know what the deal is . . .

Where the TSX edges out the Maxima, IMHO, and I acknowledge that the inherent subjectivity of some of these observations:
1) Interior quality. Whoever called this car a cheap econobox either hasn't sat in one, or is being less than forthright. Every surface, button switch exudes the hghest level of quality that is not as universally present in the Max. The gauges of the TSX are the very definition of legibility - way ahead of the Max and its teeny tach. I also found the seats more comfortable, though by a small margine. Certainly those who groused about the G35 being too small will not be happy in the TSX, but both of those cars fit my 5"11" 180lb. carcass very well.
2) Sporty feel. I can hear the horsepower junkies laughing already, but there is a sense of eagerness in the TSX motor and responsiveness in the steering that I actually slightly prefer to that of the Maxima. The Maxima definitely surges forward effortlessly in any gear an any speed, but that very effortlessness makes the experience somewhat more ho-hum. Oh yeah, and the shift feel is VASTLY superior in the TSX. While I have to cut the Max some slack because its tranny has to cope with much more horsepower and MUCH more torque, the similarly-powered G35 delivers much better shift feel than the clanky stick in the Max. The engine in the TSX makes really nice sounds as well, a feauture which I enjoy more than the muted tones of the Max. Here again, the G35 does it better - letting that sweet V6 sing to you instead of telling it to "shush" all the time.
My main problem is size - the Max is a little too big, the TSX a litle too small. If the G35 were fwd and priced a few grand less, I'd have the perfect car.
Cheers,

Well, as it happens, the TSX and Maxima are both at the very top of my purchase list. I'm finding it very hard to decide between the two. Both deliver a highly entertaining driving experience, though they do it very differently. The Max clearly wins on power, though for me, while that is an important factor, it is not decisive. I don't street race or drag race, so the fact that the Max will run away from a TSX in a straight line is of little consequence.

I was quoted about the same price for the TL Type S as I was the Max. I had to work the Nissan Dealerships a lot harder, most of the ones around here are owned by the same group and they are vultures. I was quoted $29,400 for the Type S with out the Nav, which isn't too bad. I didn't work the guy too much, he was pretty straight forward and he didn't play games like the Nissan dealer did.
