How many 6 speed owners?

Ok, how many 6 speed owners are there and how do you like the performance?

Performance is great. I'm coming from a 99 Merc. Mystique/Mistake w/5sp and 165HP. Certainly more get-up-and-go than my old vehicle. Much more effortless passing ability on the highways.

Its a little odd getting used to shifting up into 5th to pass someone. I keep wanting to put it down into 4th. But I'll get used to it.

I find 1st gear a bit short. I find its necessary to shift way too soon as I pull away from the lights or from a stop sign. And the 1-2 shift is a bit notchy till the car is warmed up.

I love my 6 speed! It has its shortcomings - torque steer and shifting is notchy until warmed up, epecially from 2nd to 3rd for me. The car has great power and is very smooth. I also like the fact that there are relatively very few 6-speeds out there.

I am seriously considering the 6 speed! So, after it warms up the notchyness does go away?

Yes it does go away. I think to be honest the notchy-ness is in the shift mechanism below the shiftboot.

The torque steer is very minor compared to other vehicles I've driven. Get the HLSD option to minimize it if you live in the US, I believe its standard on all Canadian models.

I have the 6M/T with the HLSD. I love the tranny - it's absolutely addictive. Agree on the 'notchiness', which is most evident for me when cold in shifting from 1-2 rather than from 2-3. Does go away after the car warms up. Biggest adjustment - remembering I *have* a sixth gear...woohoo!! ;-) Also agreed that the HLSD doesn't eliminate the torque steer - but makes it much easier to manage.

I own a 5th gen 6speed and the 6 speed manual is the best thing about the car.....was the deciding factor for me to purchase, you know what Nissan said about it right? Cars like it 0. enough said.

My 6-speed is great except that I have more than "notchiness" when the car is cold. I have a distinct grinding from the transmission in the 1-2 and 2-3 shift. The noise is bad when the car is cold and diminishes when the car gets hot. The noise sounds exactly like clashinf synchros in the tranny. Does anyone else have this grinding problem??
Thanks
