Ran my car in the 1/4..
Well since everyone here was complaining about going to the track about the temp., I decided to go last night. Since this was for a basic idea of what the car will run i left everything in stock condition, didnt remove spare, left all tires at 32 psi. I had a lot of trouble from shifting from 2nd to 5th instead of 3rd, but that only happened a couple times. Il post my 4 best slips. Reminding you I did not change my tire pressure so I had crappy 60' times.
60' - 2.464 - 2.572 - 2.431 - 2.022
1/8 - 9.939 - 9.981 - 9.848 - 9.592
MPH - 73.83 - 74.71 - 74.16 - 73.75
1/4 - 15.207 - 15.195 - 15.086 - 14.851
MPH - 92.66 - 94.81 - 93.05 - 92.94
On all of my runs i would stage and rev up for the launch and my car would roll and unstage, then i would hesitate and start to reverse and the light would go green...lol so i just revved and dumped it. Thats mainly why most of my 60' suck. although on the 4th run i didnt roll and was ready and got an insane launch. My friend watching said it looked insanely faster on that one. anyways the slip is quite puzzling to me. anyways the last run of the night I got a 2.382 60' and got off the line good and then i hit 5th instead of 3rd. ended up running a a 15.554. if i would have hit 3rd and done good im sure that would have been another 14 sec run. anyways im talking to much so... later and enjoy!![Big Grin](https://maxima.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Oh yeah temp was about 80 degrees and it was really humid.

GREAT JOB!!!! we have times.. 6spd se right??ok so according to these times if the 60 fts where dropped to a 2.2 or so the new maxima se 6spd runs mid 14s on a les humid day and a better launch.. so the 04 se auto 5spd se would run high 14s... basicly the same as a 02 and 03 maxima!! am i wrong in saying this// let me be the first to say congrats on being the first guy to run his 04 maxima!!!! !

Thanks. Yes with a 2.2 I know i could have hit a mid 14. I dunno about that 2.0 but the launch is really easy even at stock tire pressure. just the bs with the launch and tree and i kept having to floor it with getting to set up for it like the 1 run. anyways im gonna go back soon and show yall a 14.6 or better.

glude, i quickly read over the post, but considering it was your first and your in texas, i predict you beat your fastest time. im in mississippi and the heat and humidity is a killer ... you might have said something about running at night ..but come fall and winter .. if you take her out ... you will bring it down a bit more !! great times !

There is no vid! Well i just find it hard to believe that i really got a 2.0 60ft time. Im starting to think that maybe it messed up and it was a 2.3 or something with a 14.8 so with a 2.2 or better the car will run mid 14s.

glude, it is possible to have a run in which the rpms drop on you, i know sometimes it happens to me, but your right with such a strong launch, you would think, the rpms are going to be high, all the way through, and you would have cetainly noticed, usually in my 4th gen if it happens , its in second

Great 60' Glude, best I've had was a 2.086 in the Lighting with the tires lowered a bit. I think the 14.8 @ 92 is right with that 60' . Seems to me the mph should be higher, but I think these cars aren't getting enough air.
From going to driving a Lightning to one of these, I feel that these cars are being choked, somewhere through the induction, either the air filter, t-body, intake, or just the ECU program. If I put it in 2nd gear in the slapshift and run it up to 3k rpm or so, then let off the gas and punch it, it absolutely falls on its face. It needs some air, BAD! An ECU would help bigtime too. I say, lose the spare tire, maybe pop the passenger seat out (get back that 200-300lbs
), lower the tires, run a good program with intake and exhaust and we'd definitely be looking at extremely low 14's, if not 13's with the right driver.

I'm not denying that they are there, I just haven't found them. There are all kinds (of 02s mostly) that are beating this time with intake and exhaust mods though and UDP cars are kicking too.

Hrm, I'm really not sure but I don't think that the computer would be wrong on the 60' time. These cars seem to lurch hard from a dead stop and if he timed it right and gave it the right amount of gas, I'm sure it could hit a 2.0 60'. Hell, my 4500lb truck did only after I stopped holding the brake and reving it slightly and started with letting it idle at the line and just let go of the brake and punch the gas about half-way and then slowly opening it up. Everytime I reved the engine up a lil and held the brake, I'd spin uncontrollably through 2nd gear (ran a 17.67, spinning past the 1000' mark). It always felt like it was pulling harder when I'd spin off the line. When I didn't spin, it seemed like it would fall on its face as it picked up speed. What Caesar Chariot said about getting a good launch, it seems like it's going to be a good run since you got a good start, but not necessarily so. Not trying to start flames here, just my .02 cents. With the spare gone and the tires lowered a bit, you could probably cut that time again. I'm thinking of holding the e-brake down (pre-load) and giving a little gas before leaving the line. Maybe I can cut a good time with an auto that way

according to you, that would give him the 4th fastest 60' in the 1/4 mile forum. check his time/speed to the others. i hate to rain on your parade, but the 60' is most likely wrong, but that doesnt mean the rest of the run is messed up. so you still got a good time.

thanks! Uhh anyways im not new to driving a stick. i drove a 5 speed lude for about 3 years and just recently got the maxima. anyways I also have doubts about my 60' time. I know on that run that i nailed the launch and it felt perfect and my friend said it looked like I took off a lot faster outa the hole, but without drag radials i dont think a 2.0 can be hit unless your running the best traction street tires made. None the less im still happy with the 1/4 time and maybe i will hit the track in a week or so and see what happens. later guys!

14.56 @ 96.50 mph for the 02/03 Max SE 6 speed.
This is, of course, with the exact same conditions as the 04 Max SE and the specifications listed by Nissan for each car.
Of course with two cars that are this close, it would really come down to the driver's anyway, but as far as all the stats go (so long as they're accurate for both) the 02/03 are a shade quicker.
But...for you 04 Max SE drivers, you'll be faster above 100 mph, but only if you have the spoiler on your car.
I lowers the Coeff. of drag from .30 to .29 and by 105 mph the 04 Max and the 02/03 will be side by side and the 04 will ever so slowly begin to pull away.
I think this (which is faster) has been ground into well...the ground.
