I doubt that a cat-back will do anything but make some extra noise, most cars now come designed pretty well from the factory. The pipes before the cat is where the performance gains are going to be seen.

You are refering to the y pipe and header correct? I totally agree with that. besides the exhaust is so quiet and looks exquisit. but a high flow cat could be thrown in there for a lil more pep.

I'd definitely like to do some exhaust work on mine but I'm not going to make it sound like a fart can, ick Would leaving the stock exhaust past the cat keep the stock sound, even after you change the headers, y, and cat?? I've only owned vehicles with V8's before the Max so I don't know much about exhaust on V6's

Is there any downside to having a high-flow cat? Other than price of course.

Might make the exhaust note a lil different but if i had to guess i say it would make it just a tad louder and deeper.

Some guys on the Lightning message boards wondered the same thing so they did some research and found that (only on Lightnings), the high-flow cat's helped gain up to 30hp, but that was when they used long-tube headers, along with 2 high-flow cat's and Magnaflow straight-thru mufflers. When they put the high-flow cat's on with no headers and the Magnaflow's, they actually lost power from when they had no cat's and just the Magnaflow's.

These car's are NA so I'm sure there is will be a difference between the two results but I'm guessing with some good flow from the headers and y-pipe, high-flow cat's will help to make a difference. Not sure what this stock exhaust flows like past the cat's though Once exhaust parts start coming out I'm sure we will figure out the best combo.
