'04 SE Automatic 0 - 60?

Can anyone site a source or provide a link that tests this model 0-60?

Thanks

The only official test was in Consumer Reports in either the May or June issue, it was 6.8 secs.

My friend's G35 is not as fast as I thought it would be. Another friend (Oxidizer6) has a 2003 Maxima SE auto and I think his is noticeably faster. As for the Consumer's Report 0-60 times, I would not pay it much attention. It could be like the time when some magazine or website got 7.4 s when everyone else was getting 6.18, 6.2, and 6.4. Time for some second and third opinions.

A 6.8 0-60 time from Consumer Reports is a GREAT sign.

They are ALWAYS slower than the car mags and if that's what they got, it means that C&D would have managed to squeak a 6.5 out of the same car at the least.

And, since C&D got a 6.2 out of the six-speed, a sub-seven second time for the auto should be achievable by anybody.

Oops, I forgot to mention that those numbers at the end of my last post were for a 2002 Acura TLS.

http://www.consumerguide.com had 0-60 times (all automatic) as follows:

04 Maxima SE - 7.1
03 Accord EX - 7.0
03 Altima SE - 6.9
03 TL type S - 6.8

I guess any source or site with "consumer" in the name has slow times; however, seeing the Maxima (albeit very close numbers, but still) at the bottom of this list is quite depressing.

I'm hanging my head in shame right now. Three tenths of one second. So if you were using the 'thousand 1, thousand 2, thousand 3 method to time them the difference between the TLS and Maxima would be "thou."

i think the auto max se will do 0-60 in 6.5 or so, and the stick will do low 6 seconds..

Well first off, Consumer Reports getting a 0-60 in 6.8 seconds is quite good from them. Keep in mind, I don't think they "adjust" their times for "Optimum" conditions. So, that's a respectable real world time. "Adjusted to optimum conditions" ie: sea level, temp., zero wind, low humidity, etc etc. could mean 6.4-6.5 from them.

Now, let me say this:
The Maxima SE auto won't be that much slower than the manual really.
The auto has VERY good gearing.
It's first gear is a 4.657:1
That's very low and great for acceleration.
Even it's second gear of 3.032 is very good.

Lastly, let me say this:
According to the acceleration computer calculations, the 04 Max SE with the 5 speed auto should achieve a 0-60 time of 6.31 seconds in ideal conditions!
This is probably quite accurate.

The 03 Altima SE with it's 4 speed auto shows a 0-60 time of 6.85
The 03 Maxima SE with it's 4 speed auto shows a 0-60 time of 6.77
The 04 Maxima SL with the 4 speed auto shows it's 0-60 time of 6.84

So, again, without correcting for optimum weather conditions and sea level and the like, and without perfect launches, you can expect to see 0-60 times that are in the upper 6's for the auto SE.

Don't just nail it, you will just spin the front tires too much.
Brake torque just a bit (computer says 900 rpm's is best for this car) and then apply the throttle swiftly but without "nailing" it to the floor.

Try a couple different ways anyway, but powerful FWD cars will just spin too much, that won't get you good 60ft times.
You want to spin a bit to get the revs up and keep from bogging down, but you want the tires to "hook up" rather quickly and then get as much power to them as possible without breaking loose again.

Honestly, you'll probably find your 60 ft times will be in the 2.3-2.6 second range depending on a few things.
