Slight "tick" noise...

Hello everyone, first post here, so far I love the info I am reading, great job.

Just bought a 04 Maxima SE with DP Pkg last weekend. Love the car and everything is great. I have been really enjoying the Bose Audio, so I had not taken the time to listen for any "weird" noises until today.

I was in a little traffic on the freeway. Big surprise for S. Cali. Anyway, I noticed that when I barely touch the brake peda, I here a very slight "tick" noise, kinda like a switch is being pressed. In a way, it sounds like it would be normal, but I only hear when I am listening for it. If I am listening to the radio or have the windows down, I dont hear it at all.

Just curious if anyone else noticed this. Other than that, I love my FIRST Maxima. Have always wanted one since I turned 18 back in good ol 1970.

Take care

I suppose you could be hearing the brake lights come on, or the pressing of the brake does trigger that switch, but I have never heard it.

I've actually heard that too, but I'm not sure we're hearing the same thing. Mine almost sounds like the brake pedal needs lubricating as opposed to the "click" that could be heard with the activation of the interlock. I was thinking of just trying some lubricating spray in the area.

I have a 2k3 Max with what sounds like the same problem. It is the shift lock selenoid. Put your hand down next to the shifter (on the right side of it). When you hear the noise, you should also be able to feel the selenoid activating. My dealer replaced mine but the replacement is also bad. They ordered another replacement and I'm supposed to go in Monday to have this new one put in. We sat in another '03 they had in the shop to check. The other '03 didn't make the noise but you could slightly feel the selenoid activating next to the shifter.
