extended warranty, what is this crap

Ok i know i shouldnt have bought a extended warranty, but i was so warn down after spending 4 hours whittling my max down to invoice, i got screwed in the finance office:

I got a 100,000 5 year extended warranty for 40% off list, 1200.00 is what i paid. Which seems like i did a hell of a job talking them down, and with that damn lcd screen showing everything, its prob not a bad idea having a extended warranty, as i can def. see that going bad, and being expensive to replace.

So did i do a good job getting the warranty and:

2. THey threw all kinds of added **** at me for this warranty and while i knew to say no to this ****, i was so tired i just wanted to get out there i still got all of it, the added things they threw at me:

A. some kind of a bull**** deal where if i get sick or what ever, the loan company makes my payments for me, this was 20.00 a month, and since im self employeed i didnt think it was a horrible idea, but it does seem like a crock of ****.

B. some kind of wheel and tire coverage that the extended warranty didnt cover, i think this was 149.00.

C. And some kind of a deal where if i get into a wreck and total the vehicle they pay off the vehicle and give me 5k in cash, which seems like a great deal, but i doubt i ever total the vehicle, i think this was 99.00.

D. there was something else for 199.00 but i dont rememebr it now, its late.

I *****ed about everyone and told them how i knew it was a bunch of b.s. but i was so tired and hungry i was just like what ever. So i bought them.

the good thing is i have 30 days to decide if i want all of this coverage and i can get refunded if i dont, any comments on whether i should keep the extended warranty and all this extra **** they put on on top of it

Run back to the dealer, and get your virginity back. You just got molested. You can get an extended warranty that cover bumper to bumpr after your Nissan one runs out, for a lot less than that. Besides, if you ever want to mod, it will be useless.

cbaker17...

I had the same run around at the same dealership. It took me 4 grueling hours too. However, I got out of there only buying the gap protection.

It must be standard operating procedure with that dealership.

It is SOP at most dealerships, just sounds like this one pushes more of a hard sell.

If you really want to avoid all of this, bring in your own financing.

That nicely sums up my feelings on reading this post. Do you realize that you would have to encounter a $1,200 repair during the extended warranty period just to break even on that "discounted" deal? And that doesn't even take into account the loss of interest on your $1,200 over the term of the loan.

Also, I'm not sure how long your loan term is, but even if it's 48 months you just handed them close to another grand for loan insurance. Honestly, I've just about never heard of anyone getting run over so badly.

Dude, I don't care how tired and hungry you are. Next time a dealer tells you to bend over and drop your drawers you may want to try a polite but firm "NO THANK YOU". Thank heavens you get time to change your mind.

The finance guys make theie money pushing that stuff. Here locally they try to push ghetto wheel packages that are ridiculous in price. The sales guy gets 25% of the dealer profit on all accesories. Same is true with warranty, and all that other BS like rust proofing. Just say no. Who cares how mad they get. I have seen Denali XL's marked up 9k for 24 inch KMC wheels with tires. I can get those for about 3800 bucks...

I don't know what the laws are in Kansas, but you don't have 3 days to change your mind in Arizona. When you sign and walk, you own it, molestation and all.

not the law in kansas, in fact i had 30 days to change my mind on the warranty and in kanasas you have 72 hours to back out of any contract.

Quite happy as i just got back from the dealer and canceled out my warranty.

thanks guys

I hope you cancelled all that crap, not just the warranty. The warranty is the only thing that you didn't get completely raped on.

all that was packaged in the warranty, so when i canceled the warranty i canceled all the above, and the warranty price wasnt good at all i can go online and get something much better for cheaper.
