Don't know where he got the figure on only 400 Nissan 2004 Maximas SEs with 6-speed trannies being made. I have one. I had a little more trouble finding an SE 6-speed in the correct color and features when I bought mine back in May, but given the number of Maximas with 6-speed that I found back then on the lots of dealers in Colorado, I feel confident that Nissan made probably 15% to 20% of the new Maximas with 6-speeds. They certainly are not rare. Suspect this dealer is putting on "the hype" to try and move this car.

Sounds like it, those guys over at Pinnacle are total *** holes. Unfortunately one dealer owns most of the Nissan dealerships, and all of the Infiniti dealerships in and around Phoenix, and they are sharks. There are definately more than 400 6 speeds, I would guess at least 10% but I bet you are correct in saying that they are closer to 20%.

20% would be a huge increase in 6spd production compared to previous generations which were around 5-10%........I would find that odd considering the demographic Nissan is targerting with the 6th gen is older and more affluent.

Remember, we are not talking about total Maxima production, but only SE production. When I was scouring the SE Maximas at all of the Colorado dealers within about 150 miles of Colorado Springs, I found that about 1 in 5 (20%) had a 6-speed (I can believe this may have been as low as 15%). This is not scientific, particularly if the 5-speed auto trannie versions were going out the door faster than the 6-speeds. So, yes, total SE production of 6-speed SEs could be as low as 10%. I have no problem agreeing that the range of 10 to 15% may be more accurate than my original estimate of 15 to 20%.
