all 3.5s created equal??

my friends and i were just talking about the new 350, and i posed the question or whether or not all those marketing numbers actually equate to any real differences, or if they're just marketing tools. for instance, i'd like to know if a 2k3 maxima, 2k4 maxima, 350z track, enthusiast, g35, 3.5 altima.....etc all dyno close to the same. of course they'd all perform differently in the real world, but at the crank, how different could they possibly be??

Intake and exhaust differences could definately swing the HPs quite a bit in one direction or another. I am sure there are other factors as well, but I don't know enough about them.

I'd assume the difference between the 350 and Max/altimas would be compairable to what they advertise. If you look at the pollution numbers, the 350 puts out twice that of a Maxima. I'd be willing to bet there is 20 hp in a less restrictive exhaust system and better fuel and timing curves.

I don't see why they should be the same. Different intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds. Heck even in the same car just changing the trans will change the hp numbers (due to ECU programing). The 350z obviously has the best intake and exhaust for hight HP numbers. The pathy has a different intake and exhaust and is tuned more for Torque. The maxima and other front drivers have a 3rd type of intake and a way different exhaust due to the routing of the exhaust in a transverse engine.

Everything makes a difference. Why else would people spend money on aftermarket intakes and y-pipes.

No the engines will not make the same. Well maybe if you are only talking about the block and pistions. Then they might be the same.
