Can you post pics of your trunk sub/amp setup?

I'm going to be putting a couple 10" subs and an amp in my trunk hopefully soon, but I'd like to get some ideas on how to do it from those of you that have already. If you have a picture of your setup (preferable in the '04 but earlier is fine) could you post it up here, and give a little description of how you went about installing it (did you do it yourself, professionally), etc, and also how complicated your setup is on a scale of 1 (easy) to 10 (very tough). My friend has built boxes for his trucks, and hopefully I can get him to make up a setup for me as well, most likely a box that will fit in the way back of the truck against the back seats, with the subs facing towards the back of the car.

I think you are on the wrong forum. But then again, maybe someone has already put a new system in their 04. Would be interesting to see how they replaced the HU.

Oh, nevermind! You said you just wanted to add a box.....

Yep, I believe nobody on here has an aftermarket system yet. I've been holding off on mine because I saw the post where someone tried putting it in and the shop that was doing the work caused an amp to blow out and I really don't like having to deal with problems like that so I'm waiting until someone on here has been through it and can give some info

I've added an nice Eclipse amp to my system but it wasn't worth the time. I didn't replace the stock speakers because they already had great sound quality. However, here's the problem. If you don't replace the stock speakers the system won't sound any different except for the bass if you add a sub. The stock speakers have some type of crossover in them already and the system only got louder with the addition of an amp, the sound quality did not increase any. You'll notice that if you fade to the rear speakers only you loose a lot of treble which I thought the amp would correct but it didn't because of the crossovers.

So, if you plan on adding an amp you better plan on adding all new speakers as well if you're expecting any change in sound quality. Also, I added two 8's in the trunk but the bass has a hard time finding it's way into the cab because there's so much insulation between the cab and trunk.

I was afraid of hearing this but I figured it was going to be this way. I guess it will be a total rehaul of interior speakers. I think I'll have enough bass that it shouldn't have any problem crossing into the cab

Really? What kind of amp you got pushing them? They the new 03 Model that hold like 1000W a speaker or something now? I think I'm going with 2 S12L7 at 2-ohm (750W RMS each) and a Boss Class-D 2ch. 3000W amp. (700RMSx2ch.@2-ohm). I think that should be enough boom for me

What I'm really beginning to question is if I'm going to be able to hear any sound other than bass. Everyday it seems like these speakers aren't as loud as I thought they were the day before. I guess a total rehaul of speakers and amps will do the trick.

Also, it seems like it's just as loud at 31 all the way down to about 25. Guess that's another indication of the underpowered Blose audio system...

Im not really going for increased sound quality, I think the system is pretty good as is, just want to add a little better bass to it. I think all the speakers sound great, just when it hits those low notes I know it can sound a little more powerful and cleaner.

I agree, i have my old system from my other car just waiting to be put in the max. I just want to see how some others installed it and how they hooked it up, where, and so on. So if any of you do have all the info, that would be cool.

All I'm planning to do is build my own box, install the subs and the amp, then have a shop wire it all to the engine. I'm also just planning to use the speaker level inputs on the amp and bypass the Bose amp and speaker with the wire, and go straight into my amp, basically making the two Bose subs useless.
