My special order arrived today.....

Unfortunately, it was damaged in transport and I had to refuse delivery.

The passenger side mirror was torn off from it's bracket and dangling. It had damaged the paint and, in an honest attempt to avoid more damage, the driver let the window down and laid the dangling mirror over inside the car. This ruined the door panel as well as flooded the interior when he went thru a rainstorm with the window 3/4 of the way down.

I'm just sick about this. Two months and now i'm back in line.

Sorry to hear that! Nothing like waiting around for something you are so anxious to get, and then when you get it you have to send it back and wait some more. On a side note, how did the Champagne Mist color look? That was my first choice, but the dealers around here had none in stock and one dealership has the Red Opulence SL at $2,000 off MSRP, so i couldnt pass up that deal, I like the color but i still love the champagne color.

Thanks for the sympathy, I need it.
The champagne mist is very nice. I guess when they say limited availability they really mean it. We searched from the Carolinas to Texas before special ordering.

That sucks! The dealer just left me a voicemail this afternoon telling me that my car is finally here....now I'm anxious and concerned about what I might find! Good luck..I hope you don't have to wait so long the second time around.

Update:
My dealership just informed me that Nissan will have a new car, to my spec.s, delivered to my dealership on or about 10-03-2003.

All I can say is Nissan!

Tragic...

Sorry to hear about the long wait. If you are inpatient as I am to wait for anything, this must be killing you. I had to wait two days for my Maxima to be delivered from Conneticut (to Philly) and I thought that was long.

Tell you what. Now you have some bargaining chips in your favor. I assume you only put down the 1000 needed to special order and didn't sign a contract for a final price. If that is the case, work 'em down. Pain and suffering damages can go a long way. Can anyone say "compensatory damages?"

Thanks for the advice but I was given a really good deal to start with and I just want my car. The dealership and Nissan's plant have really stepped up to the plate to make me happy and I appreciate it.

The sad thing about that damage is that the carrier will pay to repair the damages and the dealership will sell the car as completely brandnew and they don't have to disclose anything. They'll just buff out the scratches and replace the panel. They next owner will never know.

Sadly, you are absolutely correct. I went so far as to take pics of the VIN so that when I go to pick up my new Max i'll be able to verify that it's not my damaged Max that has been repaired.

Hey BRB...

Even though you got a "good deal", at least demand a free window tint job... you know, the "lifetime guarantee" kind.

Happy waiting,

Rob
