Tinting?
Tinting?
Maybe this is an obvious question, but I am a first-time car owner and I don't wanna screw anything up. I was wondering if tinting the windows of my '04 Maxima void the warranty?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Sorry.
Sorry.
lol damn it!
so that court date i got for my tint ticket is really just a trick? they are gonna gas me?????
I'm taking the car down to North Carolina where I'll be for the next 3 years so down there you can have everything tinted other than the front windshield.
It sucks about the warranty, though. Oh well. Is anyone still going to get it done??

oh man andrew, whats wrong with you! lol
cant you tell he was kidding.... use some common sense here buddy, how would putting a film on ur window that is easily removed going to damage something on ur car therefore void the warranty on ANYTHING.....
Sorry guy...Like I said, I'm car-clueless. My friend clued me in later on today about how it wouldn't void the warranty unless I did something to the intake or transmission or something. Good to know, though!
I think I'm going to leave the front window untinted however. I'm in the military, and, like that one guy said, if cops wanna get you, they'll get you. MP's are tough dudes!
Thanks!

so so so not true
u obviously do not live in new york, they give them out for fun to EVERYONE
my dad was driving my car and even had the front windows down, and they gave him, 48 years old with only 20% tint a ticket
Make sure you are legal! I got stopped by a local for no reason other than tint!
I went with what I thought was legal % but did not factor in the tint that was already in the factory glass.
I had to remove all tint and the shop f***ed up the rear defrosters in the process...not good for winter driving. careful

IIRC, the legal % in NY is 30%... so technically 20% is illegal.
How i wish i could put 5% on my car
depends where you live when it comes to tints and tickets. Here in AZ, we pretty much get away with anything, it is the wild wild west. In a place where you can strap a gun on your hip with out a permit, there is no way they are gonna bust you for tinting your windows.
They do have a limit on how dark your front ones can be though

I'm in Virginia (yes, that's hurricane Isabel debris on the road), one of those fringe states where tinting is common, but you can't get away with "gansta" tint. The law also states different tints for front and back windows (30% rear, 50% front.) Cops here won't usually pull you over just to look at your tint. Sure, I'd rather have 30% all the way around but since I'm sure to get pulled over once in a while for speeding I'm not about to add illegal equipment to my rap sheet.
Here's what "max legal" looks like here. If you have a dark interior, the difference is much less noticable.
