Oil filter Specifications

I've had my Onyx/Frost 6MT with Elite for nearly 30 days and I love it. I purchased oil filters from a local dealer and they gave me 15280-65F00. The box shows Maxima VQ35DE 06/01- as the application. I assumed they were correct and the - (dash) meant "thru current". When I removed the original filter it was 15208-65F01. Does anyone know if there is a difference? I searched the owners manual and swear I saw the number before, but can't find it anywhere. I found a dealer in Texas, courtesyparts.com who sells on the web from yahoo search, and they show the number as 15208-A3404. Does anyone know the real scoop? I had to put the 15208-65F00 on because the old one was destroyed when removed. I am a little worried.

In the Fluids and Lubrication Section of this site,
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=227996
there is a post by bill99gxe with the following info on oil filters for Maximas (in general). Bill seems to know what he is talking about (there are other posts on that site by some who don't seem to know):

Recommended Oil Filters for VQ engines, ranked in order of preference based upon my own observations:
· Mobil 1 M1-105 (fits VQ35DE only)
· Nissan OEM 15208-9E000 ONLY (for all VQ30DE and VQ35DE engines)
· STP S6941 (Some fitment issues on VQ35DE engines, so only VQ30DE engines should use this one)
· Bosch 3323 (for all VQ30DE and VQ35DE engines)
· Mobil 1 M1-110 (fits both VQ engines, but bypass valve isn't as good as M1-105 filter)
· Amsoil SDF-20 (fits both VQ engines)

Oil Filters to avoid:
· Nissan OEM 15208-65F00 (specified for VQ35DE by Nissan dealer; refuse to purchase this filter as it has cardboard endcaps like low quality Fram filters; insist on the dealer using the 15208-9E000 oil filter as it has a better overall construction quality)
· Any filter made by Fram (consistently poor construction quality)
· Amsoil SDF-13 (pricier than SDF-20 and smaller)
· Mobil 1 M1-108 (pricier than M1-110 and smaller)

Where can I buy the Mobil 1 M1-105 for my 04 Max for the best price? Especially anywhere on line where I can stock up on a few of them?

Yeah, I saw that on the Mobil 1 web site. I did go to Autozone and for the first time paid $12 for an oil filter. Talk about grabbing your ankles.

We need Walmart to carry these bad boys!

Hi There,

Just to make sure, the M1-110 will fit my 2008 Maxima SE, right? I'm doing "my" first change this weekend and want to make sure I have the right filter.

Thanks for the help,

Eric

I know.....

It's either search and add to an existing thread (sometimes a very old thread) or start a new thread on the same subject.

Thank You NmexMAX!
