Of course, good service advisors are hard to find. Some will just deny you warranty and/or give you a hard time about it even if the aftermarket product has nothing to do with a part failure.
98, what did you use to secure the filter to the car itself? Ive installed mine, runs great so far, but i need to find some sort of clamp or long piece of metal that i can twist to screw one end to the filter and the other to the engine or inside of the car wall to hold it in place.... I noticed someone else who had recently installed one used a long twist-tie as a temp solution, just wondering if you've done something permanent yet.
I hear it rattle against something when i close a door or the trunk, so I think I need to get something. I'll swing by home depot and see if they have any small metal things that would work. If i find something, I'll post what it is.

Well here's what I found at Home Depot, I'll try it out tonight. Basically its a bag with a roll of that pipe bracing, looks like one of those "over-21" wrist bracelets you get at bars, with holes punched in it.... The exact type was "Oatey: Pipe Support System, 3/4in Galvanized Hanger Strap".... seems pretty easy, maybe double it up, screw in one end to the filter and the other end to the screw hole that held the old filter box in place.

Aluminum strap and aluminum angle are easy to work with.
With only basic stuff like a drill, ball peen hammer, pliers, and hack saw you could fashion a functional bracket or two. If you have a bench vice and a few files you can turn out a functional and decent looking brackets.
I would probably paint it, but that's just me.
If you have a router... we have much to discuss.

ewww to what I got? what you mentioned you'd "rather have" is exactly what i got, galvanized hanger straps. its a long roll of thick metal wtih holes punched the length of it... doesnt really matter to me if it looks custom, not going to be opening the hood TOO much... i'll see how it works out.

I'm stunned that the manufacturer doesn't include something in the kit. Why is it be left to the customer to figure out how to secure it to the car?
This is why I am so apprehensive about "mods". I don't really care what anyone else thinks about how my car or mods look. But anything I do to it has to be at least as good as the factory would do and if possible, better. Otherwise what have I accomplished, a mod for mods sake or an improvement to the OEM design?
But that's just me.

The top left and bottom right pictures show you the most. These are home made, from aluminum I think.

If it made a noticable difference, I would think Frankencar would be in here with before and after dynos. The fact that they aren't leads me to think it doesn't.
I guess Steve is just under the impression that since it made gains for him on both the Altima and Maxima that there was no sense in doing so for other models using the same engine.
That's just my assumption. But knowing Steve, i don't think he'd purposely deceive anyone here and jeopardize his reputation as a Maxima owner and now a business owner.
