Exhaust

I have a 2004 Maxima, SL I want to know if I buy a exhaust system off of EBAY does that increase horsepower? What else can increase horsepower if this is not the answer? It is rated at 265hp anyone know how to increase it? Thanks

don't expect much gains from just a muffler. it'll free up like a couple hp, but the most noticeable thing will be the noise.

I assume you'll replace both mufflers so that should be twice the HP gain right?
Doesn't a Q45 do 340ish HP through only one muffler similar to what the Maxima has two of? Why would two of those big heavy assed mufflers not be enough for anything the VQ35 can pump out?
I haven't peered under my '04 to see but you might find something to improve upon between the cat and the mufflers. Step up and get a Y pipe too, if you can find one that's not made of 28 gage tin.

Ya, I think the biggest gains will be seen from the headers back through the Y-pipe. The two mufflers on our Max's are just for looks, replacing just the mufflers really shouldn't help anything at all, since there are already two.
