Well, no pics just yet, haven't installed it, but I'm going to venture into the scary world of drilling through my trunk lid probably Saturday. I will post pics of the process, and of course the final result. I bought this off Ebay, custom painted for $144... spoiler depot was the website/company that sold it. They were great to deal with it turned out, took them about a week and a half from the close of the auction to get it painted and shipped, and by ground from Florida it arrived here about a week after that. Came shipped extremely carefully, wrapped in foam, and came with all the screws, nuts and gaskets I need, along with a page of instructions. The only instructions it doesnt include is how to hook up the LED light, but I can either figure that out on my own or call them for help when i get to that point.

But the most important thing I was scared about was the paint, which matches PERFECTLY to the car, great job! The spoiler looks awesome, not the factory style, sits up off the trunk like you see older maximas with. Anyways, as soon as I get to work on it, I'll post pictures here! And you can take it from me, if you were worried/scared about ordering an after-market spoiler, you can rest assured if you order from Spoiler Depot, they did a great job, and for a GREAT price. Now, to drill holes through the beautiful car..... *sigh*

 

I've heard that some kits come with an actual paper template that you lay on the trunk for drilling. Did yours come with that? It's a pretty helpful item. Good luck! Can't wait for the pics.

 

unfortunately no... but basically you have to eyeball the spots to drill, with a crayon or something mark the trunk, then the kit comes with these little screws with no head on them, you screw them into the spoiler backwards, so the pointy end is sticking out the bottom. Then you line up the spoiler and push down on all four corners, and these screws leave dimples in the trunk hood, where you then drill through.... but basically its just "line it up yourself" with a tape measure and a good eye. I think I'll actually do it tonight when I get home from work, wish me luck! hehe

 

Well I got it installed last night.... haven't wired up the LED light yet, I'll do that today.... Here are the pics, and I'll describe the process below the pictures....



The first picture, by the way, is the inside of the trunk, where the screws hold the spoiler on the underside.

So, let me tell you first of all that there is NOTHING scarier than sticking a 1/4" drill bit onto your beautiful trunk, pushing down and pulling the trigger. But man, that thing went through perfectly, and thank god the holes all lined up. As I described in my above post, the little reverse screws really made it easy, and put the drill points at the exact right spots. The screws provided in the package were no where near long enough, since there were 2 layers of metal that I had to drill through, but I had some longer ones handy so I just subbed those. The longest part was getting the spoiler lined up, which you pretty much have to do by eye, but once I did that, drilling the holes was easy, and screwing everything in was pretty easy. The only bad thing is the LED power cord comes out of the right side of the spoiler, but the way to route it from the trunk lid into the back of the car is on the left side of the car, so I'm hoping that will be long enough.

Does anyone know if I can just unplug the power cord from the back deck LED brake light and just splice that with the new spoiler LED cable, just wrap the two together and then secure with electrical tape?

Anyways, the whole thing took about 45 minutes, and all I have left is to power it up, and I'm good to go. Looks go though doesn't it?!

 

It looks nice......I give you props becasue i would have assed out and made some professional do it.... Not because i am scared but because i wold want to have someone to yell at in the end if it wasnt str8. Post some pics of the back facing the trunk not just side view.

 

I think that is the best spoiler I have seen on the 04. I might be wrong, but I remember seeing an older thread about a certain dealer installing spoilers (not the lip) on some of their maximas. I remember that I did not like them because they were too tall, but the one you have looks perfect. Good job and please post more pics. By the way, you are a brave man for sure!

Yeah well originally I was just going to take it to a pro place to do it, the same place that did all my stereo installation, but they estimated $78 for it, which is more than half of what the spoiler cost to begin with, so I decided to do it myself. But yeah, I love the look on it, and I will take a couple more pics today at lunch and post them here. By the way, the spoiler does add some weight to the trunk lid, so it's a little heavier to open, which isnt a big deal, but it does close quickly, hehe. Gotta watch my hands.

Looks nice.........looks similar to the G35 spoilers. That looks much nicer than the factory "spoiler".

i'll try to today.... unfortunately i shorted out the brake lights when i wired up the spoiler yesterday, guess the wire from the spoiler coming through the same drilled hole that I have a screw in holding the spoiler down isnt the best idea, pinched the power wire and shorted it all out, so its getting fixed as we speak.
