Just sold an 04 SL today...

Well Well Well... Guys Nissan has done it again. I work for Carmax in Laurel MD, and we had a 2004 Onyx SL with the drivers prefered pkg. This car is bad azz, today was my first time driving it. My client came in looking for a status car (e.i. BMW, Audi, Infiniti) so we are walking the lot looking at different luxo car, then I show him a 2001 Passat GLX and he like it...so then we see a 04 SL, and I said lets see what this is about. And he instantly fell in love with it (he's coming from a 626). He test drove it and it was an instant hit with both of us, the ride is great, and so in the handling...my only gripe is the turning radius...feels like I'm turning a limo. I kinda like the skyview, and the interior is very roomy (I'm 6'2" 350lbs)

The steering is nice and tight, too tight a lower speeds. But I can live with that. Breaking is nice and precise. The XM controls are a bit hard to use...very different from my Pioneer XM unit in my old Max. The trunk is very spacious, I estimate about 4 nice size bodies could fit in the trunk, with room for a small one on the side. I didn't bother to sit in the back of the car...cause if I owned one, I would never sit back there because I would be driving. So I could care less about the room or lack their of. This car is great, nissan has really done it this time...I also checked for the misaligned exhaust, and glovebox, and this car was flawless...not even the rear shelf rattle. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this car a 9 because there is always room for improvement, considering Nissan has a long way to go in terms of customer relations and I wanna say fit and finish, but their cars don't look bad at all, its just the hard plastics on some models that consern me...can we Say Altima? Well guys if you haven't driven one...its time to get off your azz and go out and test drive one...I can't wait to test drive an SE when we get one in.

It's about time someone mentioned the turning radius. OK, I'll admit, it is a small gripe, but after three months I have yet to become accustomed to it. Now I'm the moron I yelled at in the past for not being able to turn into a tight parking spot the first time.

By the way, MadMax1991, see you are from Laurel. Dated a girl from there once and we went to that Bottom of the Bay seafood joint down the road from you. Best seafood I ever had. Miss that place...shame I don't still have that girls number.........

I think that was on the top of every owners gripe list. I have to say, it is annoying at times, but it hardly is an issue. It is an issue for me maybe once or twice a month.

The car sold for $27,998. The funny thing is...everyone was coming in the store looking for this car, and even calling from other Carmax's about it. When they found out it was in sale pending, people were doing anything they could to buy it from under my customer. They did everything but bribe me.

I ended up making a 3 point turn a 6 point turn. My client didn't think it was an issue yet, so I'm not worried. I did give him the link to the org. I hope he joins us. I found him to be a very friendly person.

so that makes it roughly $29 on the road. If I go the auction and get a 2000-2001 GS400/430 with 35K mi for the same money, and decide to sell it in 5 yrs, the now 8-yr old Lexus will be worth more than a 2004 Maxima. You are in car sales-say it ain't so? I am simply ****ed at Nissan's bad resale value.

Well resale value isn't a Nissan issue, the market has to do with that. If you've noticed, the resale value of nissan's have gotten better over the years. But I've got to give it up to Nissan, they really have put themselves back in the driveways on consumers. I've found most nissans to have a better Resale than most Toyotas and for a few Hondas. Infiniti's resale value is climbing way up....marketing, quality, and popularity are they keys to that venue...

One must wonder how the scarcity of '04s on the road will affect resale value. Perhaps it's too early to tell, but there must be some truth to the buzz that Nissan's plan is to not flood the market with 6th gens the way they have with 5th gens and Altimas.

I'd be curious to learn how many 6th gens people are seeing in their areas. I've only seen three 6th gens in total since getting mine in May. The only time I seem to see any is when I am in the vicinity of the dealership and go by a few test drives.

Now the Altima, I've taken to counting them just for the heck of it during my daily commute. Most times I give up after about ten.
