Bluetooth on 2004 Max / Possible?

Now this is an add-on that I would really like to see. Has anyone seen or heard anything about the possibility of adding bluetooth to the 04 Max? Do the amber or color displays even have the icons for cell phone communicationn that we just have not seen because they are not enabled?

Just curious.

I'd be pretty suprised to see that on a Max. The technology would be expensive to include in each car and not enable it at least.

Which other cars other than MB/BMW have Bluetooth in them?

I've seen the cell phone icon on what appears to be diagnostics of the screen. As to how to get that puppy to appear or how to interface with it, no clue.

It would be nice to have my bluetooth phone interact with that screen, have an embedded microphone somewhere, and be able to talk to people without having to install the car kit.

Then I'd bet there is a "mute" wire there somewhere. Like most aftermarket decks. When it receives +12V it automatically mutes the stereo.

This is just more than a mute button. It's the ability to use the speakers in the car as the "earpiece" and have an embedded microphone in by the visor all interfaced to a bluetooth enabled handset like the Nokia 3650.

Oh no I understand what you are saying about a Bluetooth enabled hands free system. I'm just saying that I think that due to that icon being there that the stock stereo/electronics on the Maxima has a wire for "mute" on +12V signal built into it.

Ah. I thought of that. But I think the display blinks "mute" when you hit the button on the console.

Would've been nice if they stuck a mute button on the steering wheel.

Give it a while, there will be systems that you can install aftermarket. Bluetooth is a relatively new technology and a lot of companies haven't adopted it yet (sprintPCS for example).

When a kit comes available, it probably will be a nice addition, but it will cost a few $$.
