Was wanting to know what anyone thinks of the new 2005 legacy gt. Numbers i hear are 250bhp (the sti is rated at 300bhp from the same engine) 250awtq and is about 200 pounds lighter than the current maxima thanks to an all new aluminum suspension and hood and i hear the car is very refined(sold in japan and australia)looks like their is going to be some competition for the maxima in the future here are some numbers: http://www.modernracer.com/subarulegacygt.html

there is no question that a (stock for stock) wrx sti will spank a maxima in both the 1/4 and 0-100 times. question is , is it as refined as the maxima? as far as luxury, ride, quality of materials, roominess, of coarse not it can not compare to the maxima in those areas but.... this is where subaru will position the legacy gt

Seriously, you're a MORON. The new Legacy is doing great overseas, and I have no doubt that it'll be the second vehicle to bring new life to the Subaru lineup in the US.

Anywho - links:

With the STi engine, it should be a hit It's also getting 3L flat inline 6 engine as an option It's nice to see a sleek looking sports sedan - kinda reminds me of the values that enbodied the Maxima in the 3rd gen, you know, before it turned into a luxo-boat.

my point is that there is only so much that an engineer can do with front wheel drive as far as performance (of which the maxima has always stood for) so for the future of which i referred to for the maxima there will be competition and i see the maxima either going to rear wheel drive (which will defeat its original purpose) or all wheel drive of which there is without question no better auto made than sube case in point: http://www.modernracer.com/history/s...gthistory.html

This is pretty OT. But the Legacy needs to upgrade in the States. Subaru has offered high HP turbo Legacy sedans in Japan for many years. Mostly under the B4 name. Current one has about 280hp and is twin turbo'd. Cheap too. I remember I was in Japan and priced one. From what I could tell, it was about $25,000
