So far so good, but I've only had the car about 6 weeks. A midwest winter will be a good judge, though.

My 5th gen Max was black also, and despite all of the complaints about the 5th gen paint quality, I was pretty satisfied.

yeah i live in the northeast its just as bad over here, winters usualy kill the car with some minor scratches and chips "minor chips" if it doesnt snow, if it snows than all the sand they put on the ground kicks up and kills the car.. i hope it doesnt destroy my beautiful black baby. ive had it since may 6 months now its doing good, only one small chip on the hood..

My last Max was Sterling Mist (a metallic silver) but now going to black I may regret it because like ga2000 says its gonna show everything. We both are from Greater Cleveland and the winters will give us a good indication of what we can expect, as far as chips are concerned, in the future.

I said it.....yes I think it is a fad....just like all colors....they come in style and everyone wants one that color and then they go out of stle and dont make that color for a while....sort of like the radiant ember orange. it is in style for this year only. Mainly because most people wont want one of those colors but if you make a few then alot of people want that color.....silver was like that a few years ago....didnt see alot of those silver cars out..now it is everywhere.

Hunter Green is another example.....do you see a hunter green Max being made now? NO!!

This is my 5th max, third black one... Use only the best waxes and invest in a 3M clear bra for the front bumper.... Good Luck!!!

The 04's look hot in black . But if the paint is anything like mines, scratches are a HUGE factor, but I must admit, black looks damn good when its clean !

Well, so far it's doing okay. It's definately hard to keep clean. Of course, I've only had it 3 weeks, so I'm still babying it. LOL

Wow man, you really make alot of sense. You know you're right, I should have bought a Kia and then I could afford to buy some cool plastic film to prevent chips and scratches!!! B**ch, please

that is not true about the paint being more dull under the clear bra....looks the same.........and as far as "the line" being visible where the bra ends......yea from about 1-2 feet I will never have another new car without the clear bra.......I dont blame you ga2000 let your dad buy the clear bra for his car.....how is your spec v anyway? I never see you mention your own car? Can you slow down when your typeing or proof read more? It is painful to try and make sense of your threads sometimes?

I agree, surely you can afford a $300-400 clear bra for your 30K maxima? I mean if you dont want one or dont like them ok, but not buy one because they are too expensive on a 30K car? Maybe you got in on a cheap lease?

sorry i know i type to fast, and whats going on in my head doesnt come out right when i type it.. my father wont get a clear bra he gets ****ed because im more into his car than he is.. he says its a lease and im not putting money into a car i give back.. "if it gets chipped, it gets chipped" he says the only way its not gonna get chipped up is if i dont drive it, hes right.. he says its black **** happens.. my out look is its not that cheap of a car and i personly think a very very nice car take care of it.. but whatever.. my spec v is ok, i wanna give it back already i still have a year left on the lease.. its black if i knew about the clear bra back than i would have got it.. my bumper looks really bad, and im very anel about my car.. "its black to" so my next car will be white or silver "it hides alot of dirt and chips to.. it had a radiator leak so i took it in for that this morning, and three hours later, they put in a new radiator, it runs ok best 1/4 is a 15.3 with intake, my next car will probably be an altima or a 350z.. well see what happens, i wouldnt get a max because my father already has one..

Your absolutely correct. I can in fact afford a clear bra. If you look at my original statement I simply said I wish the clear bras were more affordable. Perhaps I could have been more accurate - Would I like one?.. yep. Am I interested in paying $400?...nope, not worth it to me. I'll have another car by the time its that chipped up to be intolerable.

I'm not dissin' anyone for have one, hey I like them. The logic just doesn't make sense - i.e., If you wish the clear bra were cheaper, you should have bought a cheaper car....sorry that is laughable. I mean really, whats the point here?

I once saw some girls in that black Maxima, the passenger, almost fractured her
neckbone, lookin back at us.

Black is such a hard color to maintain. It looks sweet when new but no matter what in a few years will look scratched and swirled. I bought silver not because it was the most popular color in 2000 but because it's my favorite color. It looks okay when dirty and sort of blend in with the surroundings. I don't want to raise suspicions with the local policia.
