Weak Interior

I hate to sound like a broken record, but does anyone else notice how poorly put together the interior really is? I mean, for starters my glovebox was misaligned. The sunglass holder has to be pushed about 10 times before it opens. The hinge door over on the center console over the cup holders never opens on the first try, and I've had to resort to punching it lately to get it opened. If you grab a hold of the center console and push on it lightly, I can move the entire thing about two inches in either direction. This obviously adds to the 'creaks and squeaks' and takes away from the solidity of the ride in general. Not to sound bullish, but I was in a buddy's Audi A4 and the interior is so solid and tight. Even the Accord (Yikes) had a much more solid and well built console than the Max. Don't they think of this **** before they put these cars on the market? That is my only real complaint so far.....and everyone that drives my car immediately comments on the 'looseness' of the ride. Just wanted to VENT!!!!! Thanks.

The 03+ Accord guys have way more interior issues and complaints than you guys do on the 04 Max. We're talking nearly a dozen interior issues. Rattles, headliner sag, roof leaks, welding issues, molding coming undone, bleh. You're better off than the Accord guys. As for Audi, they're known for making some kick butt interiors, but they don't have a car that really competes with the Maxima in the same price range. Not even VW really does.

So true. I looked toward Audi, but an A6 (with what I wanted) was too much, and if I was going to get a A6, I'd still want a RS6.

I, too, have the problem of rattle rear deck and center arm rest. took it to the dealer and they told me other maximas have the same problem of the arm rest, so it's normal... but they do fixed the rear rattle problem.
for all i can see cars now have more and more problems. my machanic just bought a 03 C240. he has a lot of complains about his car too. so i dun see a big deal having some bugs in my maxima since it's the first production year.

but i really do want to replace those plstic center consol pieces. maybe in the near future someone will make alumnium ones.

Don't get me wrong....I love my MAX.....it's just that for $30K+....I would prefer to not have the 'looseness'! Thanks for the comments.

If I had the issues that you had, I would be pretty upset too! My interior, though, is fairly solid and rattle-free.

However, they could have put a few more bucks into interior materials.
