Burnt out DRL

I've noticed quite a few '04 with one of the DRL burnt out here in Toronto. Today I saw one with both burnt out...anyone else notice/experienced this? Looks like Nissan is buying locally made Ford bulbs!

Yup. My dad has already had the DRL bulbs on both sides replaced, which necessitated 2 separate trips to the dealer This could turn out to be a source of major irritation since it is a PIA to replace these bulbs.

Oh wonderful. Must be the Renault influence. Or maybe they put in Chevy Silverado DRLs.

The service advisor told me that he didn't replace the DRL's with Nissan bulbs. He said he bought them elsewhere and that they were better quality than the OEM. He doesn't want to waste shop time more than once to replace them.

They are plain 1156 bulbs (or 1157 I can't remember). You can get long life ones now that claim to last 2x as long. Replacement on the passenger side involves removing the wheel liner to gain access. Drivers side is the same, or perhaps the intake&battery can be removed instead.

Sheesh, that's a lot of work to replace a little bulb. Weird that it's not accessible from inside. Almost as much work to replace the alternator on my '95

You must have seen mine too since I live in Toronto and my Passenger Side DRL burnt out last week, right after a lubrication service (I had also asked them to make the block heater cord more accessible so they attached it to just underneath the front bumper - I wondered if they did something to burn out the bulb - but after reading this thread, I guess that's not the case).

It's pretty ridiculous to have a light burn out so after only 7600 km. Anyway, they fixed it no charge. I owned a Corolla for 10 years and 136K kms without ever replacing a headlamp (they were DRLs too).

So get this: they replaced my passenger side DRL last week saying the bulb had burnt out. Then over the weekend, the driver side DRL went out.... but today it's working again!! I suspect there is some electrical problem and they haven't looked for the root cause. I think it may have something to do with water or moisture in the headlamp assembly affecting the contacts and possibly shorting the bulb.

I saw my old bulb after it had been taken out. It was burnt black inside as if it had exploded. The bulb was still in one piece.

Looking at my US model, I was trying to see where the drl bulbs would go. Do they go in the housing where there is a Large DS2 and the parking and the fog. It looks like there might be another place above the foglight in a narrow strip part. Just wondering. jdc1203
