Inline Vibration On Accelerating 04 Max Se

My Max has a Hum Like Buzz feel in the Steering Wheel when I do strong accelerations. It's almost like a feedback from the transmission. There is no Shimmy or Shake in the wheel just the Hum, Buzz like feeling. My 2001 Max AE didn't have this as I could remember. I test drove another 04 Max Se which had the same effect or problem. Is this due to a new style of transmission in which the torque converter locks up or just a common problem that should or shouldn't be there. Thanks for any help. jdc1203

I do believe what your describing is "normal". It's probably an engine/drivetrain noise-vibration isolation issue that should be remedied in future changes. Every 04 Max I have driven has exhibited the noise during acceleration (about 5 04 Max's) - all were identical, both SE and SL. Some folks would probably not notice this but you, like me, probably are more attuned to noises. Unlike the bad vibration in my 04, which should not be considered "normal", I would call this acceleration noise a normal characteristic of the 04 Max.

Obviously just my opinion with no Nissan technical info to back it up...

Happy Holidays
