It seems as if there are a lot of "other Gens" taking unfounded shots at the 6G, almost to the extreme of choosing another car. I like a gens, and have owned 4 of them. Each are / were tops in thier time.
This is a lesson we can take from some of the American car buffs. They respect all cars within it's time and cheer the new generation on.

Just wondering...how can you be a Maxima enthusiast while having nothing but negative opinions of the car?
The Max is a car that has been criticized and well liked by people since the 95 Model (love hate relationship IMO), Nissan has been daring with their styling since then. The Max is a unique car especially since 00 and just doesnt appeal to everyone and I like it that way that is why you dont see them on every corner and lot like Accords, and Camry's (lots of people have thier hiccups about the 4th-6th gen but the 3rd gen seemed to be well liked by most). I also like the fact that since 02 they have sold well under 100k units but it was planned that way.
Hey! I like the New Zealand's 6G Maxima better than my 5G. http://www.newmaxima.co.nz Cool?
So, in other words, Nissan North America should have left the 6th gen maxima well enough alone when they brought it over from Japan.
As for this debate about the I35 and Maxima, If I wasn't a manual transmission, sport tuned kinda guy, but rather the luxo smooth boulevard cruiser type, I would choose the eye-thurty-five hands down. There's something just soo cool about the 5th gen version of that car. The G35 sedan is the rage now, but that's mostly because it's new. Give it time, and feelings of the G35 will cool. The Acura TL is a very nice car, too, but I need torque, and the VTEC TL-S can't match the VQ35 lo down. Low end torque really helps in the smooothness factor as well. Nissan has been trying to kill the I35 b/c they want to have all Infiniti vehicles to be RWD and/or AWD and no FWD. But watch, it will not go away. It's the anomally in the infiniti lineup that'll stick around because it's so good.

I got my maxima after selling my 2002 Pontiac Trans Am, on the enthusiasts board for those cars (www.ls1.com) nobody had 1 Thing bad to say about any of the different generations. Any time I drove by a 1967 Firebird, 77, 87, 97. All I got were thumbs ups, totally different from here.
