Vapor From Exhaust

Anyone notice what appears to be an excessive amount of vapor or smoke coming out of the exhaust when you floor the accelarator cruising at 50-60 mph.

What would you consider an acceptable amount?

As has been pointed out, cold weather may be all that's involved, but I assume you have driven - or at least ridden in - a car before now, and know about that.

I will say I have noticed crud coming out of the exhaust when ripping away from a dead stop. I do this occasionally just for the fun of it, and to "blow it out". I don't know if it's just stirring up the dust on the road or if that's a little raw fuel spewing out the pipes, but it appears (in the rearview mirror) to be brownish-colored, which suggests unburned fuel.

I know one thing ... I'm not losing any sleep over it. If yours is kinda like that, and you're not using any oil, I wouldn't worry about it.

What color?
White: Usually condensed water vapor that collects on the inside of the exhaust system. You almost always see this when you start the car on a cold morning. You usually won't see this after the engine is up to temp.
Could be a coolant leak as in blown head gasket etc.

Black: Unburned fuel, mixture too rich. You should never see this on a modern car or even on a 2k4 Maxima.

Blue: Burning oil. You don't ever want to see this.

Brown Krud: Scale residue, byproduct of catalytic converter process. If you don't "blow it out" fairly often you may see a cloud of this crap when you go WFO sometimes. You don't have to put up with this! Try to blow it out well and often. Go borrow your mom's car sometime. Pin the throttle to the floor on an on ramp and hold it there 'till about 80...now that's a krud cloud.
