my car doenst like cold weather

well it was 10 degrees here tonight in the bronx, with the wind it dropped to like -5 or so. of course i went for a ride around 3am cuz yea i dunno i have problems and love driving......

weird things i noticed... besides the horribly long grinding start.... cd player skiped really badly, i read another post about this and i already had it happen. but the wierd thing was the delay on the menu screen. like if u hit fuel economy for instance, there was such a long delay and the screen was acting like it was in slow motion . it did this for like 20 min of driving. anyone else notice this? everything in the car just felt weird until i drove for a half hour.

just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience or any other cold weather abnormalities

I do the same thing, just pick up and go in the middle of the night and take that drive, usually on a cold engine, but I've yet to experience any of these problems. The only thing I have noticed is that when I shut off the climate control it sometimes makes a gurgaling sound. Also sometimes my heated wheel doesn't fell warm. Maybe its from it being real cold and my hands numb.

The cold brings out the sleeping "bad spirits" in cars: including drivetrain noises, the stuff you mentioned and squeaks and rattles that you didnt know existed.

Yeah, when the temps get down to zero, as its been here lately... the heated wheel does take an extra few seconds to get warm... but it heats up amazingly fast, I luv it!! Wish the seats heated up that fast.

These days I'm think'in the heated wheel is the best feature of my Max!

LCD displays don't like cold weather.

Thats what I was thinking... but I dont have navigation. I have the orangish screen, and I didn't think it was LCD. (I dont know what it would be though).

And as for whoever said heated steeringwheel is the best feature on thier max possibly... I AGREE!! lol

I remember going to school with my old max (5th gen) and putting my jacket around my hands cuz the wheel was so damn cold. The heated wheel in my car kicks in super fast, i love it

oh post edit..... one more thing i forgot about the cold, i have that heat shield rattling noise around 2500 rpm. sounds like a piece of metal is gonna fall off my exhaust. been doing it since i first got the car but too lazy to bring it in. only does it when the cars cold though.

I have a skyview and it is loud in the cold - what I mean is that the plastic around it makes a lot of noise when the car hits bumps

Are you talking about the headliner? Try pressing straight up all around the skyview. Theres some ndustrial velcro beneath the headliner that comes undone sometimes...

I also have a headliner rattle (especially in the cold), but I've got a sunroof. There is also a rattle coming from somewhere in the dash that is VERY annoying, but is only there is the cold and goes away after about 15 mins? Anyone else have this?

the screen will have delays. . . leave your cell phone in the car for the night when it's cold and it will also have delays . . . nothing you can do about it . . .

also from the bronx and experiencing the cold...i dont know who posted about the water bottle noice coming from the floor of the passenger seaty but i also hear it, probable just the fuel line and when it is quiet and cold it could be heard. I also hear a lot of noises coming from shocks/struts when its cold... overall love the steering wheel though...

Yeah the sloshing sound is very noticable in my car, since I installed the injen I dont have the music up to loud because the intake sounds so sweet when I get on it, but anyways I hear that sound when I hold the revs from a stop or just accelerating in 1st, after that its hard to hear. I figured it was normal and just wanted to know for a fact

Cars are not happy in the cold My 93 sentra's rear suspension squeeks like a bastard when it's around freezing, and even the max complains a little.

Those heated steering wheels must be nice. I've always just waited a few min until the engine is warm and then drive with my hands right in front of the vents. Works pretty well, and I steer with my knee until they're warm.

re: the heating steering wheel... here in Michigan, you just buy a nice pair of leather gloves and wear 'em late Nov - March. One thing I wish our cars had was the little "heater elements" in the bottom of the windshield like the Acuras have that dethaw the windshield wipers. THAT would be truly useful.
