2004 Maxima Rear View Mirror

Hey all,

I picked up one of these mirror and I want to fix it in my ride, (doesn't have this mirror) .. I found out which pins at the back do what but is there a way I can test this out to see if it turns on? Anyone know what kind of voltage is required? I tried testing it out on a 9 volt battery but had no luck. Any info would be very much appreciated!

Thats a good question.

Of course a 9V battery isn't going to work. You'll need a 12V source. One 9V plus two AA's will work.

The downside is that if you put voltage to the wrong pins there is a possibility you could burn out the circuitry in the mirror.

Beyond that advice I can't help ya.

CM.

Thanks for the reply,

Fortunately I know which pins to use so I'm all set. I will try the double A with the 9 volt

You can actually buy small 12V batteries at Radio Shack.

Well, I tried hooking it up to my ride and it wouldn't turn on. The power source I used was from my fuse box. It was the radio fuse. Funny thing is I smelled something burning. I immediately turned the car off and unhooked the back wires. I know the mirror wasn't frying because I smelled it immediately and it smelled normal. Maybe it was the wires? Too much power? Someone help!!

I finally got everything to work.

How do I configure the compass though?

When I press and hold "comp" I have the option of selecting a number between 1 and 15. What does this mean?

P.S Also, does this have tempature reading because when it first boots up I can see the Farenheight and Calcius icons at the top right part of the screen.

No idea. All mine does is auto-dim and have the Homelink buttons built in. Perhaps someone with the package that upgrades the mirror to the same style as yours can help you out.

Maybe visit a dealership and take a peek through the manual of a showroom Maxima.

Toronto probably 10, possibly 9.

There is a diagram/map in section 2-6 of the owners manual. Toronto seems to fall in zone 10, could be 9 though. The closer you get to the North Pole the closer the zone lines get together.
