is every nissan dealers like this???

I had this "whistle" sound if I turn on a/c
I went to the dealer a week ago and they said they will
replace the blower motor.
Today, I dropped my car off at the dealer to get it fixed.
after like 3 hours, they told me it was ready.
I went to pick up my car, got my key and got in my car.
and i noticed the sunroof was half opened.
so i pushed the close button but it didn't close all the way.
the sunroof moved forward like half inch every time i pushed
the close button. I had to push close button like four times
to close it. so i went back in the office and told them
the situation.

and he goes....
"the sunroof was like that, it was half opened when i got in
the car. did u know that? "

i was like...@$^@@$!!!

so i said, i don't know if it was opened or not. the thing is
that it's not working properly!

and he goes....
"you will have to come back on monday, we have no one here
to fix it"

!#$%@&%!!!! arrgh...

Yeah, I've got that too and it's starting to drive me nuts. There is also a rattle somewhere near the front of the car (hard to tell though..), another rattle somewhere near the pasenger side dash (loud and annoying, but intermitant), the door panels squeek, and also the drivers seat likes to 'give' randomly..... feels (and sounds) like a piece of cardboard has buckled and I fall backwards about 1/2 an inch (usually when going over a bump or accelerating). Most of my problems just started when it was really cold (single digits), but haven't gotten any better now that the weather has warmed up. Starting to get a bit disenchanted with the car, actually.

There is a reset sequence in your owners manual for the sunroof. What happened was that the dealer unhooked the battery to change the fan, and since the sunroof was half opened, it now doesn't know what position it is in. Run through the reset and it should work fine.

BTW- the service dept should have known this without even thinking about it.

i found the reset instruction in the manual. and got it right now.

thanks alot!

but the "whistle" sound is still there...should I keep taking it to the
dealer till they get it fixed? or should i just live with it?
I can't hear the sound when i have music on, but if i turn it down
to very low, i hear it. It's like a high pitched whistling sound that
annoys me.

take it back...when it comes out, take a road test with the guy who worked
on the car...

it sucks that you gotta do it, but you know it is going to bother you for as long
as you own that car...

blower motor noise

I have an 04 SL with the same whistle noise from the blower. I've only had the car one week, but I thought at first I was being too critical of the car. But, like you, I now realize that it is really annoying.

Initially, I thought I had a vent that was partially closed.... but of course I couldn't find one...

I'll let you know what my dealer says when I take it back.

American manufacturing glad my 5th gen is JAPAN
But the whistle sound has been a problem for about 3ys
Jeffk had this to say this may work for the 04 or there may be a similar TSB hope this helps.

Here's the information that I got back from Ken.

'00-'03 heater fan motor

There is only 1 motor for that generation Maxima. There is a Technical
Bulletin that states there is a cover you can install to help reduce
the
noise.

The part number for the motor is 27220-2y910 with a list price of
$58.87

Regular Maxima.org 25% discount price is $44.15

30% price is $41.21

The cover part number is 27227-0E002 with a list price of $10.32

Hope this helps,

Mine makes a tiny bit of noise. But when the car is in a sharp right hand corner (like an on ramp) the noise gets to the point that I thought there was something wrong with my front wheel. Hard to duplicate unless I take the service dude out for a quick spin on the highway.
