Intake for the 04 Max SE

Hey all... its been a long time. I am going to be picking up my new max on Monday and I wanted to order an intake for the car. When i bought my 2000 se, i put a stillen cone filter on it and it had the really throaty sound when you hit the gas. I loved that sound. At idle, it was quiet, but step on it and you get that real hollow throaty sound. My buddy bought an injen for hos 01 SE and it sounded like a tin can rattling around(hated it). Anyone put an intake on the 04 and what did you think about the performance and sound that you got with your intake. Let me know. Thanks all.

A few members here have the Injen... nothing but good things have been said from what I have seen. I have one of the cone-type intakes personally (will probably upgrade to an Injen CAI eventually), and it sounds great... I had one in my '99 SE as well... nice deep throaty sound.

Im seriously thinking of adding a new intake. Will that void my warranty? The dealer told me it will. Appreciate all the help i can get.

I just got back from the track and im dissapointed. I have the injen and it didnt show that it added any power. my traps were around 94. The day I ran the 14.3 I ran 2 14.7s both trapping 95 and the 14.3@96. I dunno I did about 10 runs and best tonight was a 14.709. Im starting to think the 5 sp auto is running better times because of the gearing. Maybe that explains why 5 sp altimas run better than 6 speed maximas. Oh well...

Thanks guys for replying to you guys. I made a mistake in my original post. My buddies 01 Max had a Franken Car intake. That was the one that sounded thin and tin can like. So any more insight as to which intake you all have and recommend is much appreciated.

I have a Stillen Hi-Flow intake. It sounds awesome! As for power, I have both the intake and a new Greddy exhaust and the car definitely seems stronger. Even the dealership tech said it was the fastest and hardest pulling 04 he has driven. Now whether that has to do with the intake - who knows? I plan on having my car dynoed in a few weeks to see how much of a difference the intake and exhaust have made. The Injen looks awesome too - but so far I am realy happy with the Stillen.

Hey, thanks for the input. One other question for everyone. Do you have the Cold Air intake or just the high flow intake. Stillen makes just the high flow. Injen makes a high flow intake and the CAI. Which one do you have. I have read that the CAI can allow for water into your engine if it is raining really hard. let me know which one you guys have. Thanks again.

We already had the group buy for Injen CAI's a few weeks ago. It was well received, and they sold a crapper load of them to us! Mine just arrived today. Mmmmm pretty.

I was also with the Group buy from Southwest. I installed mine 3 weeks ago and paid $223.00 for Injen CAI. I own a 04' Maxima SE, 5 speed automatic. Hard to tell if I gained more power or not, but it is now louder if you want to speed up.

I decided to go with the Stillen Intake. Since Injen has that disclaimer on their page suggesting that you remove their CAI when it rains or damage can result, I figured that if I was happy with the Stillen on my 2000 max that I am sure to love it on my 04. I am more or less looking for the sound, if I get any other juice with the stillen, thats a bonus.

I missed out on the group deal with southwest autoworks, but I called them and mentioned it and they gave it me for 223 shipped, polished.

walsh03: the injen is my first CAI, always was a frankencar person., but I think it sounds a little bit better and the only way I can imagine water get in the filter is if i drive through a 2 foot puddle.

Thanks for the reply andy. I know how te CAI's are installed and have seen them on a few cars and realize that the chances of any water in htere are minimul. But I just figured that since I am going more for the sound and was happy with the stillen in the past, I would stick with what i know. The last time I heard the both intakes, the stillen had just a little deeper sound to it versus the injen. More personel preference i guess. Thanks for the info.

Forgot to ask.... what year max did you have the Franken car intake on?

Thanks again.
