Ordered the new nav dvd

So, I ordered the new nav dvd (6.2) - It also came with an Operating System upgrade for the navi. Now that I had the new dvd in and working fine, I felt more comfortable snooping around on the 6.1 dvd on my computer. It doesn't look like it would pose any problems to copy these, but I can't try just yet because all I have are 4.7gb dvd's, and these have 8 gigs of info, so I need to get some 9.4 gb dvd's and see if it'll work. I'll have to order some and try it out.

Will it work right? Won't you need a dual layer disk? Speaking of which Phillips announced a consumer 8x dual layer DVD+R drive a little more then a week ago.

Any really noticeable differences in the new software? Or just updated POI's and maps?

Yea, I think it has to be dual layer, 9.4gb so all the info will fit - I'll head to the store sometime soon and check out what they have..

And no, no noticeable differences in the software yet, because I lived in a location that was already fully covered on 6.1 - On www.zenrin.com they show you the differences between 6.1 and 6.2

6.1:

6.2:

Key:
N: Full turn-by-turn guidance

D: Digital map displayed on screen, but no turn-by-turn route guidance available

D*: Some areas with full turn-by-turn route guidance

Oh yea, forgot to tell you... Word of advice, if you're taking the dvd out or putting in a new one or whatever, be careful not to drop that sucker. I dropped it while trying to slide it in, and it fell into a small hole in that little console area. So it fell under the middle console. Luckily I have very skinny arms, and was able to reach all the way in under the plastic siding on the driver's side floor. Was a pain in the *** to get out, heh.
