molding on bottom of doors

Can anybody tell me the need for this molding on the bottom of all the doors. It seems as if Nissan realized after they designed the vehicle that they needed extra molding for noise/water etc... I think it looks sloppy and I have never seen a car like it before. The car would look so much cleaner without it, or at least have the molding glued on from the inside somehow withoout showing on the outside. Is anybody else annoyed by this? has anybody removed these things?

the molding that runs horizontally on all the door panels, at the bottom, it is painted the color of your vehicle and is glued on. it also has a screw and some caps on the inside holding it on as well.

Chris - you nailed it when you mentioned 'noise/water'. Control of noise and/or water would be the only purpose for this type molding.

Sometimes it is better to just pretend something isn't there. That is, unless you don't mind more noise/water inside your beauriful new Maxima . . .

I gotta tell you, Chris, I can't see that molding @ all when I'm standing there looking @ it. And I even had to have the rubber attached to that molding replaced by the dealer on the driver's side door because it was sticking out from the bottom door channel. After they replaced it, you can hardly even notice the plastic part that's screwed on. How does this bother you so? My car is black and the molding is black as well, so maybe it's camouflaged pretty good...

anyways, besides the numerous here and there flaws, this car is fast and i love it :-) my trennz billete will be in tomorro wso i will really love the max.
