Cost of replacing electronics

Hi guys, newbie here.

just bought my mom a 2004 Maxima SL. Very nice. My brothers and sisters and I have had 4 maximas and 1 altima among us. OF those 5 cars only 3 or 4 minor repairs were performed, no major repairs. I initially steered her away from extended warranty ( I never buy them). Then I got to thinking about the cost of replacing the NAvigation/electronics screen or system. If this goes, I have a feeling the cost would exceed that of the ext war.

Anybody know how much? Anybody know of any problems. Search was disabled, so I couldn't search previous posts.

Thanks.

Those items would perhaps break after the warranty expire but it's too early in the game for anyone here to have experience with out of warranty replacement. I bet a call to your local dealer would give you an idea. You already know that the Nav system is about twice the price of the extended warranty anyway. Perhaps you just have to go with your comfort level.

Thanks. I plan to call them. I just thought some of the hard core enthusiast on here would know. I'll keep checking the site and call the dealer tomorrow if no answer.
