Autocross in your Max?

I took my Max to the track yesterday....and you know, I love my car, but all the criticism on "unrefined power" were validated yesterday......after all there are 265 furious ponies under the hood and front wheel drive..lots of understeer...but I trully enjoyed it...after it I was feeling bad about puting my Max through so much abuse, but I really needed to get "intimate" with it...I feel that I know its limits so much more....

Have any of you guys autocrossed in your Max?? How did it handled.....BTW as expected all of the 2 seaters kicked my butt....

Why not give it a shot? There are plenty of people who autoX in cars better and more expensive than the almighty Max.

I've never autoX'd one, but I did put one through the turns at a GM event. After driving hard with 4 passengers, I became a believer in the 6th gen.

One thing....the Max is classified in the same category as the WRX STI....that little car kicks butt!! I do not beleive autocross is that bad on the overall car as it is on the tires....BTW....I am now trying to find a separate set of rims and plan to buy a set of slicks too....any suggestions? I need to make the car lower to the groundl...

Correct. Autocross is only hard on the tires and brake pads unless you really screw up badly Focus on 1) Driver, 2) Tires, 3) Suspension. Everything else is secondary.

Your kidding me. There's no way you can classify these two cars in the same category. The STI HP and Torque ratings are much higher then the maxima. The STI is AWD vs. maxima FWD. There's probably a 700lb difference between the two. The STI runs low 13's quarter mile vs. maxima low to mid 14's quarter mile. Look at the difference in size as well.

The only category these two cars compare in is "price".
