New Org Members and 6th Gen Sales

I noticed recently that there are a lot of new members to the Org that just purchased their 6th gen. I've also noticed that there are a lot more 6th gens on the road than before. Is this just my observation or is the new Maxima selling better than before?

You know every time I buy a new car and start driving it, I always start seeing a whole lot of them on the road. I never used to see any 04 max's and now that I have one, I see them all over the place. This might be just me but, who knows...

All I have to say is thank god we got Maxima's and not an Altima. I've had mine since September and I've still seen no more than 20 total in that time, and that's with driving back and forth to San Diego about 5 times. Every other car is an Altima, or a Mustang it seems. But then again, I also live in the same town where people are driving '89 Dodge Caravans with 15" SPINNING rims and those bullet-hole stickers. If I see one more Kia Sephia with 16" after-market wheels and some $2.99 exhaust, I'm going to walk up to the owner and slap them. hehe Slap on all the paint you want, my friend, but you're still livin' in a mobile home.

Your right in Cali people hold on to their cars and you see alot of older cars on the road. Here dont see that many 04's or 02/03's since production since 02 is way less than 01 and older.

ya, its the same here. i read that nissan only expected to sell 100,000 maximas in north america so i didn't expect to see so many.

The situation with my dealer is not reflective of the data I see in the sales announcement from Nissan linked by maximadave. That may be because flat sales nationally have resulted in Nissan offering 'bait' that entices even chintzy dealers (like mine) to accept more Maximas.

My dealer generally had only two to ten '04 Maximas on his lot from March '03 until Sept '03. from Sept '03 until March '04, he generally kept between eight and sixteen '04 Maximas. Just in the last two months, he has begun keeping betweem sixteen and twenty-four on hand.

The results are predictable; after seeing mostly a smattering of '04 Maximas on the roads around here for a year, we now see one almost every time we go anywhere.

As to the 100,000 hoped-for Maxima '04 sales, I just saw my first VIN over 920,000 yesterday. As the first '04 Max had a serial of 800,000, that means over 120,000 have been built. I feel a customer could strike a very good deal on an '04 these next few months . . .
