My introduction ...

Hi everyone ... I purchased a new Maxima SE yesterday, and will get it in a few days ... this forum look great !

My test drive impressed me very much. Then engine is remarkable, and I really found the seating position/seats/ergonomics and the steering wheel look and feel/guages etc was just simply awesome. Felt very comfortable, couldn't have expected any better.

My only noticeable 'concern' was I did find the suspension a bit tight, in the sense that small imperfections in the road could be felt more than I would have expected.

But, then I hit a windy stretch of road where the sales guy basically told me to give her some juice before entering the curve ata high rate of speed, and to not hit the brakes at all in an attempt to 'negotiate' the curve.

SOLD.

Being the MAX lover that I am, I do have to admit that the slight roughness of the ride was the only significant misgiving I had w/ the new 6th Gen as well... But the rest of the car is truly amazing, and I just loooooooove driving her. Anyway, you'll get use to the "tightness" of the ride after a little while...I have... Also note that the more people you start packing into the car, the softer the ride gets...AND...I've heard that the more miles the new MAX accumulates, the gentler the jolts are on the booty! lol

Well, welcome to the forum and definitely enjoy your new MAX!!!

I just got my Max a couple of weeks ago. Love it!

If you have not already, you will quickly come to accept that you give up a little quiet & luxury (ala SL) for the added handling with the firmer suspension, 18 inchers and softer, low profile rubber. Hit the curves fast & hard - that's what the SE is all about!

...and I'm a former straight-liner in a '71 Cuda 440

phantom99 - enjoy your street-legal race car. I will be the old codger smiling and waving from my cushy SL as you zoom by. I will always remember the excitement of the SE, and how I felt invincible when driving it. Oh, to be young again . . .

SilverBelle ... I got the Majestic Blue, black leather interior. Looking forward to getting it ! Although, one thing I negotiated to get thrown in was the chip deflector on the hood, and the sunroof delfector. One in the showroom had 'em and it looked good. However, I've read some posts and a couple seem to suggest the sunroof deflector may actually increase wind noise a bit. Maybe I'll reconsider that ...

Yeah, I read here as well that the suspension does soften up a bit over time. But really it's a give and take scenario ... I don't think I will mind a bit of a tight suspension at all ... especially when I need to take advantage of what it offers !

I've also read a few complaints of 'shimmy' stuff but it's really tough for me to figureout if this is a really serious thing, or if only a few people have experienced this problem and are posting like crazy.

Welcome also. I only have 800 miles on my bronze SL and the looks it gets around town are complimentary and downright scary (will it still be there when I come back??) You are going to love this car.

PS: mine rides great!!
