Some questions about the 04 SE

I picked up my Max last tuesday and let me say, so far it has gotten alot of love and I have given it alot of love. lol I have a couple questions though. Basically it has 300 miles on it and I have been pampering it so far. Haven't gone over 70mph on the highways, no jack rabbit starts etc. It's hard getting used to this peddle since it just wants to go at the slighteset touch.

Basically, is there anything I should be doing, shouldn't be doing? Anything I should be looking for? This is my 1st nice new car. (Just traded in my 02 Alero for her.) and I want to keep her goin for a while.

The one thing I did notice the other day is that going down hills sometimes, if I don't continue on the gas, it almost feels like it kicks downa gear and is sorta holding back. I'll be honest I didn't look at the tach when it did it, I just thought it may be normal for this car....any ideas?!?

* I did also notice today it pulling to the right when I applied the brakes. I have to keep an eye on that one.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

It seems like a normal trait for it to kick down a gear whenever you slow to a certain speed. Guess so it will be ready to jump when you want it to fly.

Congrads on your SE. You'll love it. I know what you mean about getting use to the gas pedal. It takes some getting use to coming off an Explorer like I did. All the torque...

Follow the owners manual on break in. It spells out the guides for the first 1200 miles. Also, the Fuilds and Lubricants forum gives good advice on oil and oil changes.

it does drop gears when you aren't on the gas and going down a hill or going less than around 25 or 27. It figures you are supposed to be going slow when you aren't on the gas at 20, and it figures that if you aren't on the gas going down a hill it drops for engine braking effect, so you don't wear out your brakes.
