Injen Intake

I was looking at getting the Injen CAI, but was reading that you have to take it off in wet weather, as you might get water in your engine. Any thoughts about this ?

Also, I know that someone else asked about the difference between Injen CAI and the Stillen HI Flow Intake. But I haven't seen any comparisons of the 2. Does anyone have any actual numbers.

Lastly, other than SSR, does anyone know if their are any turbo's coming out for the 04 Max. I can wait on the CAI, if I know that a Turbo is on the way out.

Much THx

I live in the Great Northwest (near Tacoma & Seattle) which you know is ledgendary for it's rain fall. I have had the Injen CAI installed on my car for months now and have driven through some torrential down pours. Not once have I experienced any problems. The air filter is well protected by the plastic inner fender which also shields it from water splashing up from below. Unless you plan on driving through water over a foot deep, I would not be worried.

As far as comparisons go, I would think that the Injen intake would have an edge over the Stillen Hi Flow simply because the Injen is a true cold air intake and the Stillen is not. I believe if you go to Injens website, they have a dyno chart for their intake, but I have not seen one for Stillen's intake.

Masshog, how are you likin' the color of your car? I love mine and it looks great when it's clean, but it sure shows dirt easily!

I actually wouldn't buy the Max in any other color. The dealer had to go 125 miles to get a Red Opulence, SE Stick for me. From the Back, and sides, looks awesome. The front view could be better.

As for the CAI, I would think what you said was the case. For how many of these units are sold, I couldn't see people getting up early bvefore work just to take the air intake off, because it is raining. I saw Dyno numbers for the CAI in the July Modified Mag Injen Ad. They clain Peak WHP Gain of 15 @ 4300, and a Peak TQ Gain of 19.5 also @ 4300. I did go to the Injen site, and tried to look at the dyno, but couldn't really see the differences of before and after. The first set of numbers seem a little high. But if The TQ Numbers are correct, that would be awesome. What do you think of the CAI ?

I drive a Radiant Ember 04' Maxima with Injen CAI. I installed it 3 or 4 months ago. So far, no complaints. I'm taking my car this weekend with a group of Maxima Club of California members to R&D dyno. I'll post the result as soon as I get the result.

Red Op Max's are rare out in this neck of the woods, too. I had to really shop to get mine. I agree with you about the look from the back and sides. From the front, the hood looks too long or something. All the good pix I have taken are from the back at an angle.

As for the Injen CAI, I love it. It has been the most bang for the buck of all the mods Iv'e done to my Max. The noise it makes at around 4 or 5 grand is awesome!
The install is pretty easy. I highly recommend it.
